My Dad has been sick for a while with AML (cancer). It took a turn for the worse this week and he ended up in hospital after an infection. I spent Friday with my mom getting him from the hospital into a nursing home with the goal of hopefully getting his strength back so we can get him home. It is terminal but we are trying to make the best of it.

In the short term there is a chance Vicky & I will be late to Las Vegas.
There is a chance that Vicky & I will not make it to Vegas at all depending on his condition...

There WILL be a VNA booth with all the lovely VNA ladies (I am coordinating to get it set up even if we are not there).
If for some reason we cannot make it I will coordinate to make sure the dinner goes forward in our absence.

I have a lot of friends coming to Vegas so I am doing my best...
If customer service around here in the VNA is not immediate or as fast as you are used to.... try and bear with us during this time of adjustment...

Thanks

You take care of your family first. It was handy you guys were in L.A. when you got the news and not at home, which would have taken a lot longer to get to your Dad. You have done so much for all the members and VNA girls that they should be able to take it from here. Stay with your Dad as long as you need to, you will never regret your decision. Certainly take care of family first. You know I will be there to help out (in Vegas) wherever I can.

Best wishes to you, your father and your family.

I wholeheartedly agree with the others. In tough times like this, family really does come first.

Best wishes to you and your family.

On the good news... we have moved my dad into a 24 hour nursing home
He has seemed to stabilize and is at least making an attempt to eat and move around
It at least means there's some pressure off my mom...

I think he was saying a big ''fuck you'' to the hospital and life and not eating
I bought him fish and chips from a pub yesterday and brought it to him and he did have some it..

Thanks for the messages. My dad adores Vicky and I it's been a rough week...
That being said we are making the best of it and will get into a schedule/routine as soon as we can

Dave and Vicky

Family first you guys make sure you also take care of yourself and especially your mother. As someone who just recently dealt with hospice for my father anyway make sure your mother takes care of herself.

Best wishes to you all....it's a hell of a thing, cancer. My mother passed away last year due to liver cancer so I understand what a stressful time this is.

This is a time for a family to support each other. Don't worry about day to day issues. Just put family first, and let the VNA part of your family pitch in.
