Our lead moderator Walt, is instructing the other moderators to inform the person first, then kick them out if they say they are driving, if they come back, we will tell them we are muting them, and then mute them.

My logic is, if you keep kicking they will just keep on coming back, and that is more likely to cause an accident. If we ban the ip, it will only change again when they are 5 min down the road, so they can come back anyway. So muting them at least stops them from trying to type or be interactive.

What do you guys think? I know "you can't fix stupid" and we are not responsible at all, but at least we do the right thing and our conscience is clear?

I know right where that happened.

Come on, people. Do you really want to be found like they found this guy? And, no seat belt, and ejected half way through the sunroof? Do you know what that means? I remember a story from years ago. A guy wasn't wearing a seat belt. He rolled his car. The door flew open and he started out. But the rolling car crushed the door shut, trapping the guy half way out. The car continued rolling, dragging him along as the 4,000 lb. car held him close while it crushed him into paper. The comment was made that medics said he was pretty much jelly as they tried to pick him up.

Distracted driving is the leading cause of traffic accidents in the US, and maybe the world. Yet people will come up with every excuse in the world to justify their stupidity. And it is not my intent to call anyone names. But, if you look at or use your phone while driving, your chances of having an accident rise exponentially.

There's a longer story to it, but I was using my phone's GPS to find my way home in Las Vegas in January. I couldn't attach it to the windshield, so I laid it on the seat beside me. At some point, I looked down to verify where my next turn was. Right then, traffic in from of me stopped. By the time I looked up (2 or 3 seconds?) it was too later. I rammed the guy in front of me. I was pretty lucky. No one was hurt and his vehicle (an SUV tank, lol,) wasn't hurt at all. My car was easily driveable, but was pretty well crunched. I couldn't open the hood. So, I made it back to El Paso. But, due to frame damage, the insurance company totaled it. I owed $1600 more than it was worth, so I had to get a loan on that amount then another loan for another car. I got a good car but my monthly outlay went up by around $100. But I was lucky. No one hurt.

That's the only time I've ever used my phone in that manner, and I blew it. Yes I use the GPS. But I have a holder that I attach to my windshield, so I can listen to it. And, if I look at it, I am still looking ahead. And I do that very seldom. I do my level best to learn my route before I even start out. If the phone rings, I leave it until I can pull over or stop at a light. If it's a call I need to answer, I'll pull into the nearest parking lot, park and make my call. IT'S NOT HARD TO DO. You are NOT in that big of a hurry.

I am dead set against anyone attending a cam show while he is driving. And, since the VNA provides the content, I have to disagree with Vicky a little, saying that we are not responsible at all. That is probably true in a court case. We certainly can't control what people do. And maybe that is the key to what Vicky believes. But by providing the mobile content, I think we have at least a little responsibility to try and curb people tuning in a cam show while driving. But, as Vicky also says, there's really not much we can do beyond muting them.

Bottom line is, people, PLEASE put your phone down while driving. Remember the recent story abut the young truck driver in Texas who just hit a bus full of Seniors (me, lol) killing 13 of the 14 on board. This idiot was doing everything wrong. He had been smoking pot in addition to texting on his phone. And you know what he was thinking? "Oh, I don't need to worry about that. I can handle that." Well I wonder if he can handle killing 13 people. I wonder if he can handle spending the next 20 or 30 or 40 years in prison, because that poor fellow's life is OVER. The car behind him taped him weaving all over the place as he drove. Think about it. He has ruined his entire life. He has also killed 13 people who probably led very fruitful, fun and enjoyable lives until that moment. Is that really what you want to do?

Please, people. You are all intelligent people. All you have to do is say, "I'm not going to do it. I'll just pull over. I can do that." And then, do it.

A little different story but kind of was shocking to me. I remember with my uncle in his car and we were behind this van/suv that had a ton of video screens including in the back window and shocking porn was playing on every screen, I was like really, it was weird. When I used to drive, especially when I was wrestling, if I was tired or getting tired I always would pull over or get to a place to stop and go sleep. I mean honestly folks, you could not hurt yourself definitely but you could and more than likely cause something horrible for others.

We Brits are ahead of you - its an offence here to use phone whilst driving and number of penalty points has just gone up.
If you are even tempted to argue against it try going to Youtube and search for "Dash cam footage shows A34 lorry driver in fatal crash". Watch until the end to see the statement from the relatives of the dead!
Here was certainly a sin worth sinning and I applied myself with characteristic vigour to its practice

A lot of states have laws against using a phone in a car, in fact here Tennessee they want to get it where no one could be using there phone in the car(big kick up about it by the Uber and Lfyt people). But the big thing is like most things is if someone is caught doing that and if the police/law enforcement are actually looking for that.

There are laws about that here in El Paso. Talking on a hand-held device is against the law. I don't know how many tickets are being handed out, but you can tell how many people are obeying that law by sitting at a traffic light and counting the people in cross traffic with a hand up to their head. (It's a lot.)

This is one disadvantage of the US - different States have different laws, even when its a no-brainer. However, if they tried to bring it in throughout the USA, I bet you some idiot would campaign against "an infringement of our Civil Liberties".
