UK to start blocking pornsites April 2018

I thought we had a thread about this somewhere but I couldnt find it. They have been talking about this and threatening it for several years now. With the economy and other things to worry about I wouldn't think this was a priority, but it looks like it may come to pass. I wonder how this will affect us all? Will we have to install special software or filters or redo our tours to accomodate UK traffic? Or do we ignore it and just assume they will all use vpn's and come to our sites anyway? How will this all work? Peter how does it look from your end?

Yes if you are from the UK you would have to enter some sort of verification before you could even see our tour page. Your government would have to keep some sort of database of people registered to be allowed to see porn? And we would have to compare to that database before we could even let you see our free pages? (that is super scary, that is a hack waiting to happen) Or you would have to enter a valid credit card to prove you are over 18 before you could see the free pages. Sounds like a nightmare to me. Wonder what the tube sites will do? I'm not against it if everyone did it in all countries. I agree with keeping minors away from porn. I agree you should be over 18. Just that everyone should play by the same rules. IE if all the USA and UK pornsites have this verification and the sites in germany don't then everyone will go surf porn in Germany and we'll lose potential sales. It should be an even playing field.

Michelle Thorne's website and Miss Hybrid's website apparently have had new restrictions placed on members. I cannot remember exactly, but after logging in, I was then asked information indicating verification of age (at Michelle Thorne's website. A separate screen came up) At another UK site, Studio66.tv, I wanted to watch a video of Michelle Thorne (which they thought was too graphic) and so I needed to sent a .pdf file image of my New York State drivers license. I'm good over there now. Lastly, Babestation.tv also needed a copy of my drivers license.

There's a lot of UK sites that I am a member of that may or may not be impacted: Lucy Zara, Dannii Harwood (solo sites), ThisIsGlamour, StellarVIP, SocialGlamour, The Only Tease Network (glamour sites) Killergram (a hardcore site), and St. Mackenzies (a fetish site) -- For these I don't know, I'm getting on them, and I haven't been asked any questions about age yet.

I don't think Mrs May has enacted the legislation yet - but there are plans. Meanwhile they are shying away from stopping social media allowing extremist propaganda and videos to be shown!

I hate the idea of sending drivers licenses around the internet! Who knows where they will end up? That is scary! How many places get hacked all the time! Home Depot has been hacked, Target, Ashley Madison, last year Yahoo had the biggest data breach in history, etc...

Seriously! Read these links! You would trust a porn site to not leak your drivers license?

We keep 0 information on our servers, just so you know. There are 0 names, addresses, credit card numbers, nada kept on our servers. We do that for a reason! As a porn site you are a constant target. When someone joins one of our sites, or buys an item from my online store, they are passed over to the extra encrypted connection on the ccbill website. The entire transaction takes place on the ccbill server, not on ours. Once done the transaction they are passed back to our site to login. The only thing we have is an encrypted password file, just a username and a password, with no way to know whose it is, there is nothing associated with it.

I really hope that when we are forced to comply with this ridiculous rule, that we don't have to resort to that, I'm hoping that it can be accomplished with a credit card verification done on the ccbill server.

That for me is potentially the biggest issue with this whole idea. They get cooked up by completely out of touch politicians who barely know how to switch on their iPads without knowing a thing about the technical aspects of it. It's easy to say "let's block all porn to save our children's souls" but putting it into action will (or should!) take far greater resources and technical nous than that which will be applied to the scheme. It also doesn't help that the people who will be employed to code and implement this won't be the absolute best. When you've got far more competent hackers than the honest coders writing it, there's always going to be problems just waiting to happen.

I still don't get how they will do this? So you buy a code? So who will stop people from selling the codes to minors? Everyone uses vpn's now, if someone has a USA IP address because they are using a VPN they won't need a code... I just don't see how this is going to work? Please help me? Who understands this?

The 16-digit porn pass cards will allow browsers to avoid giving personal details online when asked to prove their age.

Instead, they would show shopkeepers a passport or driving licence when buying the porn pass.

The UK’s film censor, the British Board of Film Classification, carried out a public consultation ahead of age-verification laws that are to be introduced this year that will require viewers to prove they are over 18 when viewing certain sites.

The mechanism for age verification is being left to the private sector. but the BBFC is overseeing its implementation.

The new legislation was originally intended to go into effect in April but was pushed back amid concerns it was not yet fit for purpose.

According to the Telegraph, a spokesman for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport said, “We are making age verification compulsory for commercial porn sites, as part of our work to make the internet a safer place for children. But we need to take the time to make sure we get it right if it’s going to work, and it will come into effect later this year.”

I'm more worried about whether these "porn passes" will require users to register their real names and verify them with official state ID's or licences. You really want such info in the hands of agencies that might want to sell it to private companies for targeted advertising....or worse, potential blackmail or doxxing?

Good old fashioned password protection and parental common sense in monitoring underage computer usage is more than good enough. Also, go after those who actually abuse children rather than snooping on adults looking for "molestors" under every bed.

One of the first acts of a Jeremy Corbyn-led Labour majority once they run May and the Tories out of there should be to correct this nonsense.

Aren't credit cards used for that over here? Doesn't the UK have credit cards? What's wrong with that system? Sure, junior can sneak mommie's CC. But once he's caught, case closed.

I don't think any system is perfect. But what the UK is proposing, on the face of it, seems ridiculous. I notice it doesn't say how MUCH I will have to pay for a "porn ID card."

It's not for joining sites, it's for seeing all the free areas because there is so much p*** available for free. The UK is going to block access to all porn websites for their whole country, unless they have some sort of a verification in place showing that they are over 18.

Yeah this is true, that's what I told the people saying they wanted to close their Facebook accounts when they had all those breaches. Your info is already out there, when you logged into the net day 1, everything was out there.
