Wow! Beautiful point. He placed that one right where it needed to go. England up 1-0. England defending well, I think.

England will never have a better chance to win that tournament. Good on Croatia for making the final

France winning sucks balls.. especially because Croatia gave up a couple of soft goals...

4 more years... a good World Cup but very strange
England basically rolled over in the Belgium game which showed me how far they really are off from being a super power...

OK - so here is the final word on World Cup etc - and I'm a neutral (honest!!).

1. Player of the tournament - FIFA actually got this correct - Modric (Croatia) was superb - he got them to the final and consistently played well. He ran the games and showed the over-rated guys like Neymar, Messi & Ronaldo what being a team player is all about!!
2. Striker of tournament wasn't Kane - he did nothing after the Sweden game! A hayrick against Panama (one of which he knew nothing about) doesn't really deserve the Golden Boot!
3. Best team was either Croatia or Japan - both really showed that teamwork can triumph against stars and hype.
4. Most ashamed players should be Neymar (learn to stand up), Messi (learn to play with the rest of the team), Ronaldo (try and put in a bit of effort when the ball is outside the opponent's penalty area, and Sterling (stop cheating and give Ashford a chance)
5. Best manager - Southgate. Really calm and great TV persona. If he realised that he needs another centre-back and needs to replace Sterling with Ashford he will do well.
6. Best support from their fans - Russia. A really poor side got much further in the tournament than they deserved because the fans willed them through!
7. VAR is a really good thing - if used properly! Let the fans hear the conversations so we know what the decision is all about.
8. Coolest shirt - probably Croatia - home and away. Probably black/grey away shirt wins!
9. Please let Sky have next World Cup - BBC and ITV were awful with their coverage. Only good point was Slavin Bilic !
10. Shoot anyone in the crowd doing the "Mexican Wave"! Mexicans don't do it and , if you have spend lots of money to go to a game, watch the bloody football!

Mike, (rokker look away now) - England only got as far as they did because of the draw. They lost twice to Belgium and once to Croatia - the only two good teams they played. Sweden were one-dimensional - defend and hit at set-pieces, Colombia were poor - as were Panama (shouldn't really be there) and Tunisia (needed extra time goal to beat them).
Honourable mention to Belgium who probably had the most talented squad and got to semi-final the hard way. France were always the favourites when Brazil and Germany went out. But why, oh why, do they keep picking Pogba? He is total crap!!

Mike you are a real gent!
I forgot to tell you that for most of the tournament I was wearing my ABE T-shirt.
It's a shirt that sells in vast quantities in Scotland and Wales during World Cups.
ABE = Anyone But England!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
