I’m curious if anyone else goes through weird eating stages? No joking about pregnancy. Not possible. For me it’s kind of normal to have food stages. Where I’m all about something for a week or so. I don’t really diet. I kind of follow what my body wants. Like obviously around Christmas, I was eating Christmas cake, steamed puddings and cookies. Then after it was like my body wanted only lean protein and veggies. Then this week, it’s popcorn and tea. It’s hilarious... it’s like I’m all about popcorn. It maybe because I wasn’t feeling like eating any carbs after, carb loading after Christmas.

I'm a month into eating only meat, eggs and dairy (carnivore/keto) and it's pretty much removed any cravings for carbs.

A month? How long do you plan on doing that George? That can't be healthy?

No set duration or anything like that, but I'm enjoying the results I'm experiencing so far, better sleep and better mood.

Is it healthy? Depends who you ask, there are corporate interests with significant financial incentives that are arguing against it, pushing propaganda for high profit margin grains, supplements, medications, sugars and seed oils. Meanwhile there are a lot of people trying this with positive results in treating auto-immune disorders, chronic inflammation, epilepsy, IBS, Chrons, type 2 diabetes and a bevy of other maladies.

I'll stick with it as long as I'm getting results and thriving from it.

How has the meat only diet been going? I hope you are eating some kind of veg. At least a low carb tomato or mixed greens. Something. Not to be gross.... but I would think your poor colon. Fiber of some kind, is so important.

I've always been a meat and potatoes guy, but I do eat salads. I am gradually trying to retrain myself toward that end. Yesterday I bought lettuce and tomato for sandwiches, and 3 Broccoli crowns. I like raw broccoli with a little dip. I also eat "Ranch-Style Beans." (Black label with yellow and white trim.) They're kidney beans (I think) with spices. Most times I mix in hamburger, diced tomato, diced onion and some extra spices for a homemade chili.

I also bought 3 bananas and 3 apples, ate one of each. Yay, me!

Fish! Eat lots and lots of fish! All protein, no fat! You can never gain weight from eating fish and shrimp!

I eat fish (yes, need more,) but tend to eat the breaded stuff. I do like and eat salmon on occasion (unbreaded,) but should eat more. It's kind of expensive, but a couple days a week shouldn't be too hard to get to.

How did I know you'd say that? lol. Yes, I realize that the unbreaded is better. Most fish I'm not crazy about. That's why I doctor it up with tartar and seafood sauce. Defeating the purpose? Probably, That's why I wouldn't mind eating more salmon. It's good and I eat it undoctored.

Good job on the veg Walt. That's a great improvement getting fiber!

I agree with Vicky about eating fish. Haha.... what's funny is, once you stop eating things breaded and with sauces, your taste will change. I find most fried stuff bland now. I find just seasoned fish with lemon, dill and a olive oil... perfect. It feels refreshing.

I need to start eating better. I barely get any vegetables in my diet, or fruit. I've been so stressed so I just basically eat toxic waste like fast food, or stuff that is quick to make up. I know it's bad, and I hate the weight that I'm at, too. I know I'm the only one to blame for that. I try to diet, eating salads and fruit and what not and I usually only last a week. :( I just don't have the motivation, and I really hate having to cook up meals or anything crazy so that it's made up ahead of time. I'm just a mess. Lol. :(

But the original post, I understand.... I'll get a craving for something I haven't had in a real long time... Mainly it's for snacks, but an occasional food, I'll want that I haven't had in so long. Lol.
Show me your kitties. >:D

Still no veggies, just meat, primarily I've been eating nice cuts of beef (ribeye), although I was persuaded to eat some pizza the other day.

Honestly it's not a problem, things have remained quite regular actually despite the absence of fiber.

I think we all go through different things in different seasons. I've had points where, I was traveling a lot. I wasn't eating great. I tend to give myself grace. I think we often suffer when we put ourselves in our own mental prisons. I also, think one should never label food as good or bad. I tend to see it as, nutrition. But if you had a fatty meal, then the next meal try to eat add a side salad. Actually, fast food places have fairly good options these days. I often will opt for a grilled chicken sandwich with either a side salad or fruit salad. Chick-A-fila has many amazing options. Even at McDonald's I will do much the same. It's about being consistent and loving yourself. I always think, I eat fruits and veg because I love and respect my body. But I never shame myself for enjoying french fries. It's about balance. I think 90% of it is mental. It's overcoming your own mind. I also, allow myself to have a fatty meal once a week. A rich desert once a week. I find when I do that, I look forward to having pizza or having a greasy burger. I totally get where you are at mentally. I was 100% in your shoes with food in 2007. But I also, was at a bit of a mental low. You learn to accept your body and love your body. Yes, it's heavier right now. But this beautiful body has carried you over your life time.

Actually, I'm a little heavier then I prefer right now. My weakness is super high quality olive oil and dates. I love them. But I have to tell myself, I need to measure the olive oil and only have 1-2 dates a day because it's calorie dense. I tend to think of weight management, to be nothing more then whatever mental hacks work for you.

Oh wow! That's remarkable. Back when low carb diets were last popular in the earlier 2000's. I did one. I had a check up during it. My cholesterol was sky high. I never had a problem with cholesterol before that. My doctor said... what are you doing? You've always had excellent blood work. I said, low carb. She told me, go eat a salad and chill on the low carb. She said, I was already a normal weight. She only recommends such extremes to people who have a hard time managing weight. Haha.... I have a doctor where I can joke with her, like that. Just be careful. I know with some people, it can improve health. I've had overweight friends improve there life. But some people, it just messes with our bodies. I tend to think, men fair better with low carb diets. I am sure you are fine. You know what you are doing.

But I know with myself, I am someone my body hates extremes. I even tired a vegan diet. It was a nightmare. Only a month of doing it, my hormones were out of whack. Its' amazing to me some people can tolerate the extremes better.
