Got a lot Going on

got a lot going on this morning, just called for ambulance for my aunt who isn't doing well, she has dementia and bedfast. Don't know how interactive, I will be today. Just keep me and my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Best wishes for your aunt, Andrew. I assume I'll be there some day, altho it would be nice to not get dementia. (Yes, I know. People all ready think I'm demented, lol,)

Dad was doing ok up until 86. What killed him was the bypass surgery he undertook. Mom developed some sort of dementia around 82 - 83. But she never had problems identifying any of us, and she was aware of her surroundings. I think her main problem was some sort of tumor she apparently had.

I was totally ignorant of what steps I could/should take to protect and help her. Even when she was undergoing medical procedures, I only got minimal information about what was going on and I never even sat down with her doctor for a discussion. I feel bad about that now. It just seems that I should have done more.

So, Andrew, I don't know what your responsibilities are with your aunt, but since you called the ambulance, you must have some sort of pull. I would suggest that, if possible, that you stay close to her and her treatment. Work with whomever else may have responsibility.

But, mainly, let her know you are there and that you care.

they had put my aunt in ICU step down but had to move her to regular ICU, had to get her body temp stable. Her kidneys are doing good, if she survives this, she'll probably have to be on dialysis and be under constant care at nursing home

Talking with the social worker, they will probably put her, when or if she gets better, a 3 month full care facility and if she doesn't approve in 3 months to full time care facility

My uncle called and they had to put her on a ventilator
