Well as I do when I need to figure something out, I write it out on paper. Here's what I came up with and then I cancelled everything and everyone... just took me a few hours to talk to everyone on the phone and explain that I'm really not a pussy, I'm trying to be smart.
1. I am still not totally over long covid, going to lung doctor again today. What happens if I catch it again? It's almost guaranteed to catch it. I have almost never been to a convention and not gotten the flu. We even named the “AVN flu” as every single performer who went got it every year. Omicron is more contagious than the flu. Should we deliberately put ourselves 7 days in a row at an event with 1000's of people at X3, then Xbiz B2B convention with indoor seminars, Xbiz Honors night then Xbiz Awards night? Plus shooting every day with different girls? What am I thinking, putting myself in the middle of all that?
2. Most of my fans have told me they will not come to the X3 event, and the ones who do, will not buy photos with masks. It's going to be a bust moneywise.
3. Why pay $150 per day for a professional makeup artist to have it all rubbed off into the mask. This will apply to X3, B2B and Awards show and Xbiz Honors Show and all restuarants and anything indoors. All masks all the time, is claustrophobic.
4. As to shooting, it seems to be the wild west in LA right now. Some are requiring 24 hour tests, some 72 hours and some are ok with 7 day and even 14 day tests if vaccinated. Julia just found out the girl she shot with on Saturday (who tested on thurs before the shoot) now has covid, so Julia cannot shoot for a little while until she has a few negative tests in a row. If it's bad now, can you imagine the week that everyone pours into town and starts a “content shooting frenzy” with each other? What are the chances my planned shoots will still happen because everyone is shooting with everyone and they are dropping like flies...
5. Dave has asthma, he sure doesn't want to catch covid a second time.
6. I will have to test every day while I'm there if I want to shoot, how available / expensive / time consuming will getting tests every day be?
7. If Dave or I test positive we will be stuck in LA on quarantine for an extra week or 10 days? Change in flights and extra nights at an expensive covid quarantine hotel. Plus would need my 3 doggie's babysitter to stay longer - what if she is not available? Dave's Mom needs us as well. We can't be gone that long!
8. What if I test positive on day 2 of my trip then I cannot shoot anymore or go to the events anyway.
9. What if only one of us tests positive? Does one stay and one go home?
10. Who knows, Xbiz (State of California) may cancel the events (no more large gatherings) and then we went for nothing? This trip will cost at least $5000 and what do I get out of it? Stress and worry.... maybe some content?
