Alright, I have tried two different editing tools (imagemagick and GIMP) and two different viewers (ristretto and firefox). The gif animates everywhere but here. At least at the moment. Yet Zack's are animating for me. I am at a bit of a loss.
I used photoshop, a bit of a lengthy process but gets easy as you keep doing it. Hope this helps you.
I can send you a tutorial if you like, let me know

I don't make a lot of gifs, but when I do, I use 2 apps on my android phone. One for selecting the portion of the video I want to use and a gif creator. It's super easy and you can alter the quality to reduce the file size.
Having too much sex can cause memory loss. I read that on page 69 in a medical journal on the 4th of May in 2008.

Thanks Zack!

I am running GNU+Linux. I use GIMP because it is free, it was already installed, and I have used it many times in the past. I thought perhaps there was something that GIMP would set correctly that imagemagick wasn't. It turns out that it doesn't. So, I don't need GIMP (yet). I may learn to use it better if I want to edit the gifs produced.

I downloaded a bunch of your gifs to see if I could figure out what was different between yours and mine (which I did - see my response to LizLemon85). There are two interesting strings embedded in the various files: "-Created with ezgif.com video to GIF converter" and
"#Resized on https://ezgif.com/resize". So, I take it you use this online tool in addition to photoshop? How do you like it? I had to get the section of Vicky that I wanted by using the spacebar to quickly start and stop the playback of the cam show that it came from, and then take screen captures. If there's something easier, I'll give it a try!

Thanks Liz! I don't have a smartphone, and hope not to ever need one.
LizLemon85 wrote: June 5th, 2021, 2:31 am You mean the one that you attached ErikB?
It does, when you click on it and open it. At least for me (And it's very animating, btw haha... sorry).
Thanks!
LizLemon85 wrote: June 5th, 2021, 2:40 am Okay, nevermind, I thought I was being super smart, but I didn't see that the last few gifs that Zack uploaded are even larger :fail: ...
You were on the right track, Liz!

While some of the FILES Zack uploaded were larger than mine, the RESOLUTION of all of his images were smaller than mine!
The back-end software is apparently smart (as befits its smart-ass owner), and if the resolution of an attached image is too large, a link to the image is generated rather than embedding it directly. I noticed this when I right-clicked on Zack's gifs and got "Save image as" as the first option, whereas when I right-clicked on my gif I got "Open link in new tab" as the first option. This happened even when I attached a simple jpg file rather than an animated gif. A jpg with many pixels turned into a link, whereas a shrunk version stayed a normal image.

And so, here it is:

It sounds like the video editor is what I might be interested in. Currently I am using the spacebar to pause and resume cam shows from the archives. I take a screenshot of each frame. Then I use imagemagick to convert those to jpgs. After selecting the ones I want for the gif, I use imagemagick to create the gif and crop to just the part that should be showing.

So, to clarify about resolution vs. file size, even though Zack's SunnyLane.gif is about 18 Meg, it is only 400x600 pixels, which is 240000 pixels.

My file was only about 10 Meg, but the image was 800x450 pixels, which is 360000 pixels, which is apparently too much. The reduced file was 530x410 pixels, which is 217300 pixels. That's the one that worked. Here is another one, which is 400x450. Her head was not fully in the cam show frame:

Oooh you ..... oooooo!!! :billgates:

That's o.k. It looks like there are plenty of video editors for Linux, when I reach that point.

Funny man.

Or, you could print out the pages and make a flip book (joke)...

I love your choice of subject matter! A callback to the "How much porn is on your harddrive" thread!

This actually might have some practical use. If you think you are going to be somewhere without access to technology, a few favorite flip books would be a good thing to add to a camping or survival kit. You just need a way to secure it somehow to free up a hand.

And, while trying to get your example cropped to the point where it will animate without having to click on it, I think I discovered something. I had it reduced to 620x270, and it still wouldn't animate, despite the total number of pixels being smaller than some that DO animate. Having another look at Zack's examples, I noticed that none of his have a dimension larger than 600. So, if I reduce it to 600x440, it works. The "+repage" argument seems to be introducing some noisy artifacts. If I don't use it, the noise goes away, but the gif doesn't resize to the smaller number of pixels.

More learning!

By converting the source gif to one that does not attempt to save memory between frames, then running the crop command, the noise goes away.

With imagemagick installed:

convert gif-flipbook-1.gif -coalesce -set dispose previous noise_elimination.gif
ristretto noise_elimination.gif
convert -crop 600x440+60+30 +repage noise_elimination.gif noise_elimination_cropped.gif
cp noise_elimination_cropped.gif homer_flipbook.gif

The call to ristretto above is to look at the noise-eliminated file to verify it looks the same as the original.
