The "newmedia" link works fine for me, Anthony. But we could be looking at it from different angles. I'm entering as just a plain ole user.

I sometimes like to watch chiropractor videos for noisy patients. This particular chiropractor visits between several offices, one of which is in Tampa, Florida. This particular patient has had to recover from a pretty severe fall down some stairs, including re-learning to walk. There is one move that the chiropractor does that yanks the patient's head in order to decompress the spine. For small patients like this woman, he often needs someone to hold the patient by the knees to get the decompression rather than just dragging the patient around on the bench. For this case, the chiropractor drafted her husband. The chiropractor showed the husband where to hold. I thought her reaction when her husband grabbed her was funny and kind of sweet.

For noise, however, this is his best patient that I have seen so far.

His wife isn't quite as crunchy, except in the second video where she is wearing her work clothes. Although, in the first one, her ankles and toes do pretty well. She has a fantastic hairstyle in both of them, though:

One of the cartoons I check in with every day is The Argyle Sweater, which is a Farside-style comedy strip:
https://www.gocomics.com/theargylesweater/

This is the strip from Sunday, 4 December 2022:

Someone in the comments suggested he would need a Bobcat, presumably talking about both the animal and the earth mover. Someone else took that and went in another direction, posting this funny commercial from 1976:

phpBB [media]

Yet another person took the brand name and posted a link to this rather well done video featuring a great song and some great car pictures:

phpBB [media]

Another person posted a link to a different version of the song that they prefer. I personally prefer the first one.

And, the flame design on some of the cars from the first music video reminded me of one of my favorite lines from the Mystery Science 3000 review of The Phantom Planet. I liked the original movie, and I liked the MST3K treatment of it. This line, however, caught me totally off guard and I have remembered it ever since.

Ever wonder what CGYMike and Connie do when life gets a little too boring?

This is called The Yukon Striker. It is in the Canada's Wonderland Amusement Park in Toronto and is one of several roller coasters in the park. It is arguably the scariest one due to the 90° drop. Watch the clip. You'll see that, just before the drop, the coaster stops for a couple seconds, to allow you time to sit at the top of a 245' tower (a football field is 300',) and contemplate what the hell you're doing with your life, lol. I think I could do it, and enjoy it. I remember that I never opened my eyes on a coaster until I was in my 50's, at least. I don't remember when, but I remember once that I decided that I would keep my eyes open the entire ride and I did. I loved it. Either way (open or closed) is,to me, a great way to enjoy a thrill ride.

I'd even take VIcky on this one. (Maybe she'd get scared and hold on to me really, really tight. :rotffl:)

It's a 360° video, so watch it full screen on your laptop and use the mouse to move around as you watch. Pause the clip just as the coaster starts over the big drop. Scroll slightly to the right and you will see a "Drop Tower" that is even higher. It might reach the full 300'.

OK, Mike, there's your next VNA trip. Go there and take plenty of video, lol. Or get Connie to take lots of pics of you.

Nice roller coaster, Walt! I love roller coasters. When my daughter was in high school she went to a really tiny private school (her graduating class was 18 kids) which always finished up before memorial day. I would drive down and pick her up every year right after school finished and we'd go off to an amusement park somewhere for an entire day, or a few days in the case of someplace like Universal Studios. The timing was great because high schools were still in session, so we could ride the roller coasters and other rides all day long with only short lines. Sometimes there were no lines at all and the attendants would tell us we could just stay in and ride again if we wanted.

I worked for TRW out in Los Angeles for 5 years. Every January, they and 3 or 4 other Aerospace companies would book Disneyland for like a Saturday night or something. But there were no lines. About the only time you could go with no lines, lol. Ticket were cheaper and no lines. Those were great days.

Those are the best days, Davest, spending time with our kids. My ex divorced me in Denver when my son was 2. I had to go to Detroit for my Summer vacation for a few years. By the time he was 6 or so, the ex still wouldn't put him on a plane by himself, so I would still have to drive to Detroit to get him. But then we'd take two weeks to travel. I liked to take him to historic places each year. My thinking was that I could take pictures. Then, when he would study something in school, like Tombstone, maybe, he could haul out his pictures and say that he had been there. I don't know if he ever did, but that still provided some pretty cool trips. Little Big Horn, Montana; Mt. Rushmore, South Dakota; Tombstone, Arizona; Donner Pass, California; Lincoln, NM (Billy the Kid hangout.) We did lots of camping out and cooking over campfires. They were some really great times.

Driving back to Denver on I-80 I saw a sign advertising John Wayne's birthplace in Winterset, Iowa. Dad was a big John Wayne fan, as I am, so I decided to drive down there and get something for Dad. Driving down to Winterset (15 miles) I saw a sign about covered bridges. OK, that's cool. But, then, I saw another advertising The Covered Bridges of Madison County. I had heard of the movie (The Bridges of Madison County,) and even tried watching it once. But it seemed to start off really slow and I lost interest.

But this started me thinking again. "Did this have anything to do with the movie?" We went ahead and toured the bridges, 3 or 4 you could still drive across, but most were closed off. I remember hearing several years after we visited that someone had burned one of them down. Sometimes you just gotta hate people. Not all of 'em, just the assholes, lol.

Once we got home, I looked it up. Sure enough, that's where the movie was based.. So I bought the book and read it. Turned out I really liked it, so I watched the movie. The book gave me a whole new intro to the movie. The second time, I really liked it. At some point after that, I ran across another book by the same author, "A Thousand Country Roads."

This was a sequel. Robert Waller said that he received requests about the story follow-up. Whatever happened to Robert and Francesca? He didn't want to do it. But, he received so many requests that he decided to do it - write a sequel. So he did.

I'm not going to repeat the story, but if you like to read and you like romance, you would like both of these, I am quite sure. Remember, you have to read "Bridges" first, then "Country Roads."

Hopefully, your job gives you annual vacations. If so, take a road trip. Flying is a great way to get from point A to point B. But, if you want to enjoy the trip, drive! Make yourself a few CD's of your favorite music. Put them into your player and hit the road. There are so many great and historic places to see out there. One year I saw the sign indicating the Bonnie and Clyde Ambush site in Louisiana, Quite cool. There's a small museum in Gibsland, then about 8 miles out of town to where they were killed. If you've seen the movie, you saw at the end where the lawmen opened fire and that was it. That is basically true. But, in the movie, Clyde gets out of the car. In actual life, he did not. The lawmen mane no effort to give them a chance. According to pictures taken that day, once Clyde was killed in the driver's seat, the car rolled forward a bit off into a small ditch on the left of the road, where the car stopped. So, naturally, I had to climb up into the bushes where the lawmen hid. That was cool, but a little eerie, too, lol.

Enjoy your kids, Davest. It's obvious that you do.

While looking for Kit-Cat Klock videos, this video was suggested. There are a few more anthropomorphic devices than I am used to, and there are some interesting things done with shadows.

Vicky mentioned in today's show that she and Rokker are babysitting a poodle. That reminded me of this point in this CGI short:

In today's show, Vicky used a toy that she said reminded her of some little robot-dog-like things in a movie. I thought she might be thinking about "Runaway", with Tom Selleck and Gene Simmons (and Kirstie Alley, it turns out). She laughed and said no. I still think there is a resemblance between the noise the robot walkers make when walking and Vicky's toy. It has been tough to find a clip with extended walking, though.

In the "Plastic Surgery" thread, someone brought up the topic of the drastic process used to lengthen one's legs, either to correct for birth defects, or to add height,or whatever. I talked at length about the movie Gattaca, wherein this process is used (although it is just one scene).
I went on about the general plot of Gattaca, as it is one of my favorite movies. While looking for the leg-lengthening scene, I found another scene that I had forgotten about:

Not only does it wonderfully summarize the protagonist's plight, but the word play on "degenerate" and "de-gene-erate" is great. And, looking at the thumbnail, it FINALLY hit me on the symbolism of the protagonist having a spiral staircase in his house! I have watched this movie at least a couple of times, and it never hit me while I was actually watching about the symbolism between the spiral staircase and the double-helix of DNA! D'oh!
