Sorry, DJ. I still have a Nintendo 64(?) that I bought many years ago for my son. I still even play with it on rare occasions. But I never got into the other stuff. Hope you get a group together.

I am a PC gamer; I have never owned a console.

I have played dozens of MMOs over the years, thousands and thousands of hours. These days I am mostly playing ARPGs, primarily Path of Exile. From 2005-2013 (or thereabouts) I lived with my best friends and their son. My buddy's brother would come over on Friday evenings and we would all move our PCs out to the dining room and have a good old fashioned LAN party and do WoW dungeons together (later SWTOR, then GW2). From 2009-2014 I would spend Saturday evenings with two other great friends and we would play MMOs together until 2 AM.

As for other games, up until Covid, a small group of friends would try to get together a couple Fridays each month to pay board games, and another friend hosts a board game day one Saturday every month. I started playing D&D in 1980 and have been playing RPGs as often as I can ever since. I have a wonderful group that I play an RPG with every Tuesday night (currently a supers campaign using the Fate Core rules). That game was online during Covid, but recently went back to face-to-face. I have an every other Saturday RPG group that has played online for years because the GM, who went to college with some of the other players, currently lives several states away (currently a Shadowrun 5th edition campaign).

So, yeah. I consider myself a gamer.

Wanna know how deep I am into gaming, Davest? I have no clue what you're talking about,

(But I'm sure DJ does.)

See, I don't even realize that PC Games and Console games are different. Well, I do, I guess. Let me say I've never played on-line games. Like I mentioned, I have a Nintendo 64 which I play here by myself. I also have a few computer games which are just one person games I play here.

So, that means I like to play with myself? OK, let's not go there. :lmao:

I play on xbox and playstation as well as some computer games, but I tend to play single player games. Never got into on line gaming. I have been playing since the old Commodore 128 computer and the original nintendo system. I have been wanting to get an xbox series x or playstation 5 system but havent been able to get ahold of one. The chip shortage has been causing a supply shortage since they came out a year ago. Scalpers are using computer programs to buy up the supplies as soon as they become available and then resell them for 3 times the actual price. Even if I had that kind of money to spare I refuse to support that.

That makes it hard on the rest of us, Greggl, but I support you in not supporting that. If I can't buy something from a reputable source at a reputable price, I don't buy it. Scalpers want you to think that they're just 'businessmen trying to make a living. But, in fact, they are nothing but cheap thieves.

Yes I am very much a console gamer here... I have an Xbox Series X and a Playstation 5 (and a Switch) as well as quite a few other consoles from the past as well. Currently trying to make my way through Dark Souls remastered after recently completing Bloodborne - and enjoy collecting physical editions of games rather than just downloading them. :)

Finish4ed Horizon Zero Dawn and the expansion on the PS4 and am playing Marvels Avengers on the xbox. The story is really good, but the game play is way too repetitive. Am also replaying all the Lucas Arts Monkey Island games on PC.

The first, and only, game console my family had was a Magnavox Odyssey, which my father bought when I was a kid.

I found a video of an in-store advertisement. Then I noticed the YouTube channel it is on belongs to a museum that is in the city where I grew up. I remember hearing something about The Strong Museum before going to college, but I don't remember at what point in my life it was.

In my teen years my video gaming was at an arcade in a mall in the suburbs. It had games like Star Wars, Lunar Lander, Pac Man, Asteroids, Tank Battle, etc. There were even some more mechanical games like one where you sat on a seat and, looking into a periscope, spun around trying to shoot flying saucers. Another one had you in command of a submarine trying to sink surface ships. The "torpedo" was a light on a mechanical arm moving behind the scenery. I lost interest when they all started converting to fight games and first-person shooters.

There was a mid-90's CGI television program that I loved called ReBoot. This program is about CGI characters who live inside a computer called MainFrame. Every now and again a Game Cube is dropped into the CGI world. Residents of the CGI world have to fight "The User" in order to preserve the section of the world the Cube dropped onto. According to this article, they referenced over 30 established video games over the run of the series:

https://screenrant.com/reboot-tv-show-trivia/

The first episode of the series is available via YouTube, so I will put it here:

Anyway, they agreed with my opinion on first-person shooters in the episode "Mend And Defend". I did not find a YouTube link, but the Shout Factory website has it:

https://www.shoutfactorytv.com/reboot/r ... 27d3b22800

The comment is at the 15:00 minute mark. Also, in the game, Dot Matrix (the female lead of the series) has rebooted into a rather nice version of characters like Elvira and Morticia Addams.

Speaking of mid-90's CGI, I once had a porn game named Virtual Valerie 2 for one of my Macintoshes. I still have the game package, but no Macintosh to run it on. It is from around 1995. I found a video advertising it:

And that's pretty much it. Lately, I will occasionally play Trek or Hangman, which are both text-based games that are available free for my linux system. I remember playing the Trek game in college (1982-1986). I also used to play Adventure, another text game, but I got bored with it. All three of the text games usually kick my butt, but Trek still keeps my interest.
