Horizon: Forbidden West came out on Playstation yesterday. I loved the first game in the series so got this one. They have a PS4 version thats $60 and the PS5 version is $70. But the PS4 version comes with a free upgrade to the PS5 version so why would anyone spend $10 more for the same thing. I just had to wait 3 hours for the upgrade to download so I could play. Thats worth saving 10 bucks to me

I too have been playing Horizon: Forbidden West on my PS5. I actually didn't realise about the "free upgrade" until my copy was already winging it's way to me in the post... but never mind - this game is lovely!

I've been enjoying the hell out of Lost Ark since it released for early access 15 days ago. I just checked and Steam says I have played it for 200 hours in those 15+ days, which averages out to 12 hours a day, LOL. I'm not really that bad, though, I just leave the game on in the background while I'm doing other things in other windows.

I believe Sony said that this was the last free upgrade. From now on PS5 games will be $10.00 more than the PS4 version

I had to go look that one up because it hadn't come across my radar yet... I haven't played an MMORPG since Rift, which someone from my creative writing group introduced me too and we used to join up in that and play it off and on. Good times.

Horizon has taken a bit of a back seat since Friday as I have now got Elden Ring on my Xbox. It's kicking my behind as I thought it would!

How is Elden Ring? It is getting amazing reviews. After Horizon: Forbidden West I will tackle Cyberpunk 2077 now that they have an actual PS5 version available that fixes the PS4 version problems and upgrades it for the PS5. Everything I am reading says that they have fixed all the issues that made it an unplayable broken mess on the PS4 and upgraded it and added features for the PS5. Was on sale for $25.00 and I had a $25.00 sony gift card so took a shot and bought it.

have heard nothing but good things about both. Elden ring is a 'souls' type of game, so if you like those, it should be great.

I havent gotten into the souls games. I tried the first one when it was free with xbox gold membership and all I managed to do was die over and over again. Went on to something else and havent tried again.

I am really enjoying Elden Ring. I am relatively new to SoulsBorne games as I only really "got" them last year and yes you really have to teach yourself to be okay with dying repeatedly in them... I played through Bloodborne, finishing it and it's DLC, and I have to say that I enjoyed that a great deal. Yes it was hard and frustrating in places but I made it to the credits rolling - I will say that I preferred the story, setting and aesthetics of that over Dark Souls, and so far Elden Ring too. But it is really good. I've only played about 15 hours so far but I'm enjoying exploring the land and finding myself way out of my depth!

I used to play games. Mostly first person shooters, wrestling and MMA games. My Xbox died in 2020. Life took me in a different direction for a while. I have been considering a new system. I also, have considered setting up on Twitch too. I will admit, Twitch is how I review games and see what it is out there. But two years away, I kind of feel the world of gaming has changed so much. I am living in a new universe.

Watching streamers I enjoy on Twitch and reviews on YouTube is a first stop for me when thinking about new games. I watch a lot of Twitch, whether it is to see what people are streaming or just to hang out, I usually have it on in the background (on another monitor) when I am gaming myself. Streamers I enjoy are based more upon personality than their ability to play well. It's entertainment.

Adriana Chechik plays games like Elden Ring and Bloodborne on Twitch. And she really gets into them, it's quite fun to see! I can't watch an entire stream though... I am more a YouTube edited "lets play" kind of viewer!

And speaking of Elden Ring I have now felled Godrick finally so the game is really starting to open up for me!

Christie Stevens and Siri Dahl also stream when they can on Twitch.

Alex Coal used to play the Conan MMORPG on Twitch but she hasn't seemed to for a while now... and quite a number of UK stars like Michelle Moist had a twitch channel but not for gaming. I think it was more music and hangouts (because she also DJs).

Was finally able to get an Xbox Series X. Only took about a year and a half with the supply chain shortages. But I refused to pay a penny more than actual price. Have to wonder about the people who pay 2 to 3 times the price to the scalpers. If everyone stopped doing that the scalpers and gougers would be gone and there would be plenty for everyone who actually wants one

It suddenly dawned on me that solving puzzles might kinda count as gaming. This guy, Chris Ramsay, is a professional magician in Quebec, Canada. He also loves puzzles, and has two YouTube channels dedicated to them. He is branching out into selling a small metal puzzle he designed, and it looks like he also makes good money with his YouTube channels. One of the physical puzzles he custom ordered (and solved) cost him $25,000. He mentioned that he hoped the video went viral to help pay for it.

So, one channel is dedicated to solving virtual puzzles (adventures through a software-generated story). The other one is dedicated to physical real-world puzzles, and there are a couple of videos on his acquiring real estate for his new company office, the renovations, etc.

The virtual puzzle channel has only been around for 10 months, so it is possible to eventually go through all the videos, which is what I have been doing. He gets a lot of help from the chat while he is solving these. It took me a while to figure out that he is also cutting the run-time down by editing out spots where he is too stumped to be entertaining. There is apparently one set of software with a common set of rules that can be used to manufacture multiple games. He has played a few that were based on this software. I will include the link to the latest one that I watched in order to show the amazing artwork and detail that is available nowadays. I imagine the folks who PC game and console game with recent releases will find the capabilities unsurprising, but I was seriously impressed. Also, in this particular one, I think it was late, because he did a lot more joking around. It is set in DaVinci's laboratory, and he calls the guy "Dave".

His virtual puzzle YouTube channel is Chris Ramsay TV

His physical puzzle channel is just Chris Ramsay

The $25,000 puzzle video is part of three different puzzle videos where his future self needs help from his past self:

I prefer the ornateness of the wood puzzles (at least one of which he paid $30,000 for).

This is exactly why I haven't replaced my xbox yet. It's ridiculous. I refuse to support that nonsense and defy my principals.

I have been playing the new Return to Monkey Island on PC. I loved the originals when they came out in the 80's. The guys who created the original games left the company after the second one and the next 2 werent very good. The new one is by the original creators and is very good. If you like the old style point and click adventures full of humor and bad puns from the start of the pc gaming era I highly recommend it. The first 2 games were remastered for the current consoles and pcs so are available as well.

I play Promenience Poker quite often in PS4. I usually don't have time to sit for hours to play the RPG games I like.

If on ps look for TheComputerDave
...and she said " Let's go for it, the rooms already paid for!"
