A few days away in Manchester

First time off from work of the year for me. My brother and I had concert tickets to see Tori Amos in Manchester on Tuesday night so we decided to make it a bit of a break and had a few nights up there to take in the city, a bit of window shopping and a lot of eating! The Hard Rock Cafe up there is one of our favourites in the country and it's been a long long time since we've been there (6 years I think it's been since we were last in Manchester). It was a good, and much needed, break for us both and the first time I've been away from the house for more than a day trip in over 2 years. Also the first time I've left the house empty for a few days since dad died, so it was a fairly big deal to go and do it. And more importantly, had fun!

Looks like a great (and well needed) time away!

I have fond memories of Hard Rock Cafes. A group of gaming friends would book one the back rooms on Saturday every year in Indianapolis when we went to GenCon (gaming convention). We would usually reserve for 40 or so. Good times and great fiends. Unfortunately the convention got too crowded for us (was about 15,000 people per day when I started going in 2005 and had reached max capacity of the convention center at 60,000+ per day in 2016). It was also a very expensive week as the convention was four days, but my friends and I would book for six every year.

I am glad you and your fiends had those good times!

I know about the getting-too-crowded thing. I don't care for large crowds. I went to the first to Porcupine Freedom Festivals up in New Hampshire back around 2004 and 2005 or so. There were so many people the second year compared to the first that I stopped going.

Thank you Davest! I didn't know there were back rooms to some of them! This one had another upper level which I have never actually seen open so maybe that's what they use for private bookings? I did also take photos of the food... but if I post those now at lunch time here in the UK it's just going to make me hungry! Haha!

Thank you Vicky! I know it's not the most glamorous city but it was nice for a change of scenery for a few days... plus the concert was just fantastic.

Oh.... looks like you had a nice time. I am glad I popped in and checked out the pictures. I haven't been to a Hard Rock Cafe in a very long time. I believe the last time I went was many AVN's ago. Whenever, VNA was there last. I cannot remember how long ago that was.

Thank you, Samantha. Yes a very nice time indeed! That was probably my first time in a Hard Rock in around 6 or 7 years I think too.
