Oh wow! Those bed look amazing. I have yet to find even lumber for mine yet. I am in limbo with that section of my upgrade. I haven't been online much as I have been in the garden all day everyday. haha...

With all the supply chains getting worse. Now baby formula is an issue. I am expanding my garden. Not that I have babies. But I've learned in the last two years, my garden has saved me when we couldn't get lettuce.

Home grown is always better, Samantha, in my opinion. Would LOVE to be there helping you with that. It sounds like fun.

Home grown definitely is. I wish I had the patience to do more than I do... this little patch is enough work for me but facing facts it will be good for a couple of weeks and that's it. Even if I had the space (or an allotment) I don't know if I have the will to do more than I already am doing though! Haha!

Heck, if the three of us were in the same spot, we could have quit the garden. Truth is, I have two. I have my personal home one and I also pitch in at very large one that is a shared garden with others. Around 20 or so people pitch in. It's on the property of a friend who has the equipment and land, but not the time. Everyone pitches in and it goes really fast. Everyone is of different skill levels. They are talking about putting in a green house. I want a green house so bad. I want a personal one. But I am not willing to invest in one yet. Not sure if I am going to move in the next 1-2 years?

Well the house next door to me is up for sale right now, if you feel you may move sooner than that!

Everything in my little vegetable bed has started sprouting and growing well... I need to go out on Sunday and thin out some of the, so that I get some decent growth from them. But so encouraging to see all the green starting to spring up!

Haha... I mean I wouldn't mind England at all. I'd have a great neighbor.

Oh I cannot wait to see the progress of your veg garden. I always hate thinning out. I feel I am taking their life force. Haha... I always say sorry. I should post photos of my main garden. It looks amazing. I had things started ahead as seeds. I ate about a million strawberries from the shared garden.

After finally getting ugly bushes out of the front, this is the end result in our front yard. We have vincas, azaleas, gardenias and roses.

Thank you. We love sitting out in the evening watching cars go by and enjoying the birds eating from the feeders.

That looks so great, Dave. I am thinking, after seeing your pictures, that I need to do something similar out the front of my house. I just have some overgrowing prickly bushes out there that I need to cut back - but now I am thinking I should really just tear them all out and put some bedding plants/flowers in.

The update from my garden - the vegetable bed has over performed. I can't thin them out quick enough! This is from this morning :

I also have some strawberry plants coming up again just randomly on the stone chips down the side of the house which I presume is from where birds have dropped seeds there. In the way somewhat, but I don't want to remove them - not until I've had some fruit off them!

Glad I could inspire you. The garden looks fantastic. I have no luck growing vegetables or strawberries from some reason. But my weed area does great. I never have to touch it lol

I used to think bird watching was weird. Now I find myself owning a few feeders. My whole world has changed about birds. I love it.

Lucky you having wild strawberries!!!! I have some on the side of the house. But they barely produce much for fruit. Yours look really active.

We have 6 feeders and I thought it was expensive keeping my son fed lol. These birds chow down but are fascinating to watch

I was feeding my birds here for awhile. I had to get two feeders because the pigeons would take over the one I had and the little guys couldn't get in there. So I bought one with narrow ledges that the pigeons couldn't land on.

But, yes, they all go thru the seed pretty quickly. Of course, they go thru it so fast that about half of it is ending up on the ground. I'm thinking of maybe spreading a tarp on the ground to catch it all, so I can put it back in the feeder. Only problem is, I can see a lot of shells in the rubble, too. So I don't want to put empty shells back in there, but I don't want to try and sit there and separate it all, either.

Often the birds will eat the stuff that falls on the ground. At least the birds around here do. haha

Yes,I've seen them down there on the ground. Dad xeriscaped the yard when he first moved in here, so the yard is small gravel. Don't know if that makes it harder for them or not.
