I miss the thrill of locating gators in the ponds, lakes and pools of Florida.
I once heard if there's water, more than likely a gator is in it.
Funny story, when I first moved down I went golfing and my ball went into the water, first time for everything lol. I went to get it as it was only a foot out and one of the other golfers told me to be careful because of gators. I said no way a course would allow gators. I picked up my ball and took my shot.
At the next tee, a short par 3 over water, I teed ifyf and we were walking across a bridge to the green and I looked in the water to see a 10 foot gator swimming around.
Needless to say I never went after another water ball again.

Yes you will find them here pretty much anywhere that there is fresh water......not saltwater......

Sounds like a nice place to have nearby! As Vicky mentioned, I hope the turtles will be o.k.LizLemon85 wrote: ↑July 12th, 2022, 6:33 am I take the dog for a walk in a nature reserve a few times a day. There are different animals, mostly birds, but a couple of weeks ago, I noticed some turtles in a pond. I think maybe someone wanted to get rid of them and just put them there, because European turtles are rare and mostly extinct.
Got it! No dinner first, and "no means no".stickyvicky wrote: ↑July 12th, 2022, 11:12 am 20220630_120421.jpg

Lol... Back to the birds for a minute..... This is my hallway window, Dave got so fed up of listening to the banging on the window, Since the stickers didn't work he put up his own pictures that he drew and it did actually stop them.... But they still hit higher up sometimes..... I'm trashing my house, people think we're nuts..... Just to stop these birds from hurting themselves.....

But I don't want to get rid of all the birds completely, I have a pair of doves, that have been nesting and raising young on my balcony just above that window, ever since I moved in here in 2013. I even bought them a very expensive birdhouse! I guess you can't stop nature, hes gonna do whatever hes gonna do......

It will be fine. There is a turtle living in a pond in the city here. It has been there for over 20 years.

Thanks for the info Steinar.
I was thinking about that and did some research, apparently if the water surface isn't entirely frozen when they're hibernating, it's not a problem. But there's an environmental protection organization that's responsible for the area, I'll contact them to ask, to be sure.
Having too much sex can cause memory loss. I read that on page 69 in a medical journal on the 4th of May in 2008.

My guess is that Liz sees lots of wildlife on her strolls with Snoopy.
As far as the birds on your balcony, (porch?) Vicky. I have no ideas, but I know I'd find it hard to ignore. Certainly don't want the little beauties to hurt themselves. The owls might be a good idea, but you have to move them around pretty often. Otherwise the others will get used to them and ignore them. And, like you said, you don't want to scare the birds off, you just want to stop them from suicide missions.
When I first bought my rental house, I had pigeon problems. I read about the owls and bought 2. They seemed to do the trick. But that's how i learned that I needed to move them every few days to be truly effective.

Nice artwork! And I am glad it has worked at least partially.stickyvicky wrote: ↑July 12th, 2022, 7:54 pm 20220712_134850.jpg

Six huge WHAT??? I'll buy that. Always wanted to live on a farm, lol. Did you ever hear my post of "Wildwood Weed" in the video thread? Farmers and their sheep are somewhat famous in certain areas. One line of the song talks about smoking this 'wildwood weed', then, "Next thing you know you're just wandering around behind the little animals."

Does that mean you are a real estate agent?
And, if they were huge, were they pot plants or merely hemp?
