I have a certain resource. Not giving details and names. But they work in an industry where they deal with goods in the store and they told me the next items we will run low on. The items are shampoo and feminine products. I figured I would share it here because I figured it would effect the other ladies at VNA. I know everyone likes to be clean. Basically, I was told when you go shopping buy an extra bottle. Maybe pick up an extra to share with a friend. But it is a good idea to do that now. Also, the warned me about pet feed. Said stock is looking bad for pet feed in the coming winter. Get your dog and chickens extra feed.

But, Samantha, I certainly understand that, but if everyone buys 2 or 3 or 4 of something when a shortage is coming, won't that pretty much guarantee the shortage? Remember toilet paper?

Dang! I ran so low on TP, I had to go buy another shower curtain. :rotffl:

haha.... that was silly for sure.

I am always prepared and I always keep a few extras around. Haha... so, don't ask me? I tend to buy what I need when it is on sale and always buy an extra. Because of the value in the long run. This is just a warning for people who wait till the last minute. I tend to think the TP people were people who never have back ups. Also, the same people who do not have at least two weeks of food in their house. Let alone a basic pantry. We are living in crazy times so, it is always good to have a plan.

This person warned me about the shampoo also warned about the baby formula. I know a lady who had a baby and needed formula and she bought what she needed before having the baby and has been fine. Again, not like she bought the whole store. But bought a few extras in case her milk ran dry. Which it has.

Funny story during that, I actually had to get into my storage TP for my neighbor who just moved next door after his divorce. Which I joked, did your wife keep the TP and the house? Mind you had storage TP long before everyone ran out and bought all the TP. I bought an extra couple of bundles during a sale, like I always do.

haha... if you still get the newspaper. Most of the time it's better used as TP. Haha...

Of course, you're right. Depending on what it is, the larger quantity is almost always cheaper in the long run. I buy my TP online from Boxed.com, currently 24 mega rolls for $21. I'm happy with that price. Being single, 24 rolls might last a year, lol. Buying 2 or 3 of something if you can also guards against price increases for a while.

There are several versions of this around, possibly including either the WTF or Stupid Shit Pics threads.

As a frequent hand-washer, I decided to economize a while back. I buy a foaming hand-soap dispenser. If it produces weak foam or smells bad because of the watered-down or perfumed fluid it came with, I dump the fluid. I then take a 32-oz (about 946 ml) bottle of 3-in-1 multi-purpose liquid soap and pour it into a gallon (~3785 ml) jug. I then fill the soap bottle 3 times with warm water and add it to the gallon jug. This makes a gallon of fluid for re-filling the foaming soap dispenser. The foam is good and it lasts a long time. I think I have gotten a year or two out of each dispenser, and a gallon of soap fluid goes maybe 3 or 4 months? I forget because of the amount of time between refills of the gallon jug. The 3-in-1 is listed as body wash, bubble bath, and shampoo. I use it undiluted in the shower. I should probably get another dispenser and at least use the foam for body washing. I doubt the foam would do well with my hair.

I remember a few years back listening to an interview with a chemist (on NPR I think) and he was talking about how the same things are marketed for different uses at different prices. One of the things he was talking about is how a lot of shampoos and liquid hand soaps are the same chemically. He said a lot of them were interchangeable and that they just marketed them differently and charged more for one than the other.

Oh that is a nice deal! I will have to check out boxed.com. I used to get decent TP coupons. But I have noticed in the past few years coupons for TP and toothpaste aren't as common. Yeah. I always buy extra to combat the price increases. Sometimes I will share my extras if someone I know come into hard times. Like a job loss etc.

Love the many uses for soap thing. I actually am a big fan of Bronner's soap because it has so many uses. I also find it really gentle. I have used it for shampoo camping.

Interesting in regards to the foaming soap. I had used the dispensers before. But I am curious how they would work for shampoo. Of course there is also the shampoo bars. But I recommend having vinegar around if you use the shampoo bars. Which I do. I find every month I have to make a 1 cup of water to 1 cup of vinegar risen. I find the shampoo bars can get a weird grey built up if, I do not do that. Your hair won't smell bad. You just rise with water and dry. Mine always smells fine.

I also looked into washing with egg too. I am going to experiment. I know people did that back in the 70s.

A little different, but I remember seeing stories on WD-40. I think it actually got it's name from the developer who claimed that it had 40 uses. And there was quite a list of things it was good for besides just lubrication. And, I don't remember soap specifically, but I know I've seen the same idea for other products.

Actually I was reading that according to the company WD stands for water displacement and formula number 40 was the one where they perfected their formula hence WD-40
