I avoided Covid for two and a half years...

So for two and a half years, all the while working amongst the general public at the shop, and taking trips (with precautions) here and there I have managed to avoid catch Covid to the point I figured either the vaccine has protected me and done it's job OR I could be one of the fortunate ones who can catch and not have symptoms...

Well - I have taken this week off, I started feeling rough on Monday and then tested postive. It was a good two and a half year run but it finally got me...

Well, I apparently have been lucky. Two shots + 2 boosters apparently did the trick. Well, that and the fact that I don't go out and mingle much. I think the most I've mingled was my nephew's birthday dinner at Golden Corral. And that place stay's pretty busy.

Only real change I've noticed within that 2 - 2-1/2 year period is that maybe 2 years ago, maybe 1-1/2, my sweet tooth changed from chocolate to strawberry. It was kind of a sudden thing. I think I was in the kitchen possibly going to have a chocolate drink when suddenly, I just didn't want chocolate. Don't remember where the strawberry came from because I didn't keep strawberry stuff in the house. But now I drink strawberry protein drink. Then on the rare occasion I get a milk from the convenience store, I'll get Strawberry if i don't get orange juice. Depends on the time of day - OJ is a breakfast drink, lol. I do still get the occasional Snickers or Baby Ruth, tho.

Stevie, I hope you get well soon and symptoms are only mild. I feel lucky that I havent gotten it either. I have had both shots and both boosters. A few people at work have had it and so has my sister and we share a house which is why I think I am lucky (knocks on wood)

Thanks everyone - I finally feel like I turned a corner with it today... so yes I had both shots and a booster so I can only assume that had I not I would be feeling far far worse - but I have to say I felt like I was hit by a truck. After the initial postive test I got very bad... mostly wild temperature swings, very achy arms and legs and laboured breathing. The cough has subsided somewhat but I still have a slight sore throat from it. I think the worst part was it was preventing me sleeping and I went for a few nights not sleeping at all. But I am now on day 6 of it and am throughly fed up with it now!

Well I made it for 2 years without getting Covid till I tested positive in April in Jamacia the day before I was to leave. I had no symptoms, I felt great just tested positive. In 4 days I tested negative and got to come home on the 5th day! Only thing I do suffer is a really very tired feeling some days, that I have never felt before. It is a tired that takes my breath away and not just a loss of energy. I have to sit and drink water to get over it. It is a bitch when I am at work and it happens, I only work 4 hours a day, but I am busy from the moment I get there till I leave!! I have explained it to my manager and coworkers. Most days the feeling hits when I am home, thank goodness!

When this Covid started in 2020, my daughter and I got tested regularly each month. I have gotten both shots and 1 booster cause when the 2nd booster came out my doctor said I didn't need the 2nd. But on Monday (tomorrow) I will be asking about the booster shots again.

THe only thing I've noticed in the last 2 years is a switch in my tastes. One day I went to get my chocolate drink but I didn't like it. I've always drunk chocolate. It wasn't bad or anything, I just felt that for some reason I didn't like chocolate. So I switched to Strawberry and have been fine ever since.

The only food related thing I've heard about Covid was that you lost your taste - not changed from Chocolate to Strawberry, lol

Well, that was pretty much the same for me. Made it all the way until July this year. Then one of my co-workers came in feeling sick and didn't say anything. Then he was out sick. Came down with it a few days after he was out. Had the three shots before. Wound up spending 10 days at home until I had a negative test.

I am starting to feel better now, and while I haven't noticed a change in my taste (although my appetite has been very low anyways) I have not been able to shake off the sensation that I can smell smoke literally all the time. I will probably be going back to work on Wednesday.

Did you check to see if your house is burning down, Stevie? :lmao: (Sorry. I'm sure all that is no fun.)
