Can they ever co exist? Or can you even get into politics if you have done porn in the past? Parti Quebecois says yes!

As usual, the US is years behind most of the modern world in accepting sex work as work and no longer adding a stigma to it. Remember Cicciolina? She worked in porn in the '70s and was then elected to Italian Parliament in 1987 (35 years ago!). However, even with her example most of the world still attaches several stigmas to sex work. Do I think we'll get there to where sex workers are viewed no differently than anyone else? Yes. But societal-level change is slow, often requiring a change in generations. In my lifetime we've achieved improvements in humans rights and equality issues that would have been unthinkable in my grandparent's, or even my parent's time. But as any woman or person of color can tell you, we still have many miles to go. Hopefully future generations will continue to make the world a better place, as long as the greed of older generations doesn't destroy it.

Women are riding their own motorcycles, they're driving Mack trucks down the highway, they're flying commercial airliners and even military fighter jets. I personally am very happy with all that. The races have more access, more freedoms than they've ever had.

But, we, as a human race (not just America,) still have light-years to go. And you're right, Davest. There are a number (a lot?) of European countries that are miles ahead of us, not only in race and sexual acceptance but in numerous other areas. And, of course, there are still numerous countries who are very restrictive of females, to the point of making them cover their faces in public and to be subservient as hell.

As a planet, as you said, Davest, we've still got a million miles to go. But I agree. Things will continue to get better and better. You are right. Things like this take generations to change. Women in the 1880's had pretty much no rights. If they were abused, it was always their fault and was disregarded by the legal system. When I was in Spain in the mid-'70's, women still rode in the back seat. When the family was out walking, the lady always walked behind her man. Wait staff in restaurants were all male. Clerks and others working in banks were all male. 1970!

That's one reason I am so proud of VIcky and the other women in porn who can stand up and say, "I'm gonna do this! Screw you!" The old, "if you've got it, flaunt it!" Thoses pissers and moaners wouldn't even know porn was out there if they weren't searching for it themselves. Not to mention those who feel it's their place to control other people and their lives.

I am very glad we are making all this progress. But, yes, we still have a million miles to go.
I can resist everything except temptation.
