It works for me, but was a horrible experience. I suspect it is tailored for a gesture-oriented smartphone interface. Every aspect of interaction is controlled by their designers, and they made some choices I don't particularly care for. The worst decision was to constantly resize the page, so when I tried to blow up your entry so I could read it, they would just grab hold of it and shrink it back down. The controls at the edges would stay blown up, however. I had to actually click in the area of the entry (which was non-obvious since they don't provide any indication that you can do that), and then they provided the magnification tool.

Also, the first time I accessed the link, I didn't realize that you could click on the article entries to go directly there. It looks like a photo of a magazine cover, so I used the page controls provided at the edges and manually went to the section containing the award entries. For any other oldsters like me who just wanted to read Vicky's entry, here it is. Clicking on the link will go to a larger version.

EDIT: I just re-read Davest's post, and I guess he wants to read other entries. So, he is just going to have to interact with their eye-candy. I am figuring out that they went through a lot of trouble to emulate paging through a magazine, including animating the page flips as if paper was rolling over. Fortunately, the article in question is on the front cover, so you can just click in the large part of the "magazine". Even on the page their link goes to, Vicky is still 9 more clicks to the right. The second time I accessed the article, I squinted and clicked on the tiny little listing of entries in the lower left of the front cover. I have a small screen, and this is how they used it:

And if you click too fast while it is still animating the page change, like I did, sometimes the control misses it (presumably because there is so much javascript to execute that it misses the event). I guess it's my fault for not getting a full-powered gaming rig to surf the internet. I'd like to invite their 20-something-year-old developers over to my house. Not because I want to teach them anything about unnecessary eye candy, but because I want to yell at them to get off my lawn.

Lol.... I couldn't agree with you more! I absolutely hate this interface that's why I never read it....... They stopped sending out the paper copies of the magazine to save money on printing and postage, so now I never bother reading it because it's just too difficult, on a phone or on a computer.

That's why I made the screen cap cause I figured at least as a JPEG you could enlarge it......

I agreed with Davest at first. I couldn't actually read the article, so I just assumed it was good and moved on.

The second link you provided works fine for me. On the front page, click the main picture "Jump To Page 48." Then, 9 clicks of the right arrow and you're there. Enlarge or shrink. move around, it works fine (on my laptop.) Phones are good for a lot of things. But, for me? My laptop is my go-to machine. I can do so much more with it.

On the JPG you posted, I can enlarge it, but I can't read the writing. The writing goes way out of focus.

Ok sorry about that... but I still hate their interface and find that a super difficult way to read a magazine. Would much prefer the paper copy, sit and flip through it with a cup of coffee and read it cover to cover. Now I don't read it.

I agree with you there. I much prefer having a paper something to read. Users manuals are a great example. On a computer, it is easy to jump back and forth to different pages.

The page says, "Or, you can enlarge it. For Instructions, go to page 93."

So, on your phone, you have to scroll or whatever ("scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll," while my coffee gets cold, lol.) Then, once you've read the instructions, you have to go back and try to find where you were in the first place.

On my laptop it is SO much easier to jump back and forth, enlarge/shrink, move around,

I also much prefer the larger screen. I recently upgraded my TV to a 56" model Smart TV. I love it. Believe me, watching a Vicky cam show on a 56" TV just mesmerizes me.

Works like a charm, Vicky! I didn't mind clicking through pages to get to the article. Loved your answer and I am also glad things appear to be changing in the favor of content creators.
