How Elon Musk Turned Twitter Into Burnt Turkducken

Are you all loving the ongoing drama now imploding over at Twitter?

It's really entertaining (like a multicar wreck) the way that Elon Musk managed to buy out that social media app using leveraged cash from others and his Tesla ownership stock, and just promptly leveled it to the ground in just a week.

Yeah, attempting to convert the paid Twitter Blue subscription service into a cash cow to cover his losses and destroy the one element of verification of catfish and spoofs was a really good idea, huh?

Laying off his entire staff of verifiers and opening the door wide open to fake timelines just so he could generate his own profits? Uh-huh.

And now, he's managed to lose his ENTIRE management staff, with now only 15 people to oversee an app with over 1.5 BILLION users.

So....anyone else has bailed out to Mastodon or the other alternative apps yet?

No one has ever spoken more about Twitter than they are now..... lol.... All publicity is good publicity right?

I've never seen a company get sold and the new owners don't change things? It's to be expected.... I'm sure he'll figure it out..... He's looking for a new CEO right? Or did he find one already? He sent a spaceship around the planet 45 times I'm sure he can figure out twitter? Or the people he hires will.

My understanding is that Twitter has never been profitable from day one......

He hasn't even owned it for a month yet, And it's not broken, I can still tweet good morning titties and that's all the matters. Hahaha....

So far, he's basically running the app on his own without a CEO (or nearly 90% of their former staff, in fact).

He's also making waves by attempting to purge the app of most of his critics on the Left, and in the process aligning himself with some particularly.....shall we say, problematic actors.

For right now, though, he hasn't touched the porn, since he may have plans to attempt to monetize adult material there so that he can profit off it. Given that some of his newly found allies have been the most vigorous antiporn activists and fundamentalist Christian Right screechers around, though, there are no guarantees that this will stay the default.

I understand, Vicky, new owners buying out a company and shaking things up.

When those owners decide to purge people for being critical of their past actions and practically give up their sites and apps to people who are paid to harass and abuse that app for simple censorship, then that crosses the line into problematic. And, I'd say that even if I wasn't Left of center.
Either way, I've opened up a space on Mastodon as a backup, just in case things really implode.

Nothing is more dangerous than disinformation. He doesn't seem to care, in fact sometimes he retweets it.

The disinfo and outright allowing open bigots to tweet with impunity is bad enough, but Musk is now messing with the franchise with this notion of multi-tier paid memberships, the elimination of likes, and the elimination of counts for retweets and follows.

And all of that just to jack up the site views for the spammers and scammers to pay him in paid memberships and ad buys.

But, what happens when there's no one left to buy the ads or view the free porn bots?

Yep thats what I hear! I think I've been shadowbanned for 20 years so what difference does it make? As long as they don't delete me!

So far it has been the same for me. I just been carefully watching what happens. I have been putting a few more accounts on mute and some I blocked. It is getting interesting on a lot of the sites, not just the porn ones. I was looking thru my FB account today and a woman said she wrote "I am so tired of seeing woman being so hard on other women" on another Instagram account. Instagram suspended her account for hated. I would like to know how is that statement full of hate?

Yeah it's ridiculous and so frustrating, because you can never talk to a human being and the customer service should be called customer non-service.

Porn bots? See now that doesn't sound as bad as Terminators. Maybe we can trust them
