If you are from Louisiana, can you please check if you can get to my website? We are trying to block all IP addresses in Louisiana, because of the new law requiring us to obtain driver's licenses or other forms of government issued ID unless we have install some crazy software that I don't trust to prove that you are over 18.

So it is easier for us to block access to Louisiana than it is to go through all of that rigamorole. I'm sorry.

I sure hope they don't make this new law nationwide. Just Google HB142 Louisiana age verification.

It took effect Jan 1, but we are just implementing the block as of today. A lot was unclear about it, didn't know if we could get access to the "LA Wallet" software or what (we can't, and it seems no one knows how to use it lol...)

Louisiana resident reporting here.

Apparently either their system is broke, or they already have my 58 year old ass registered in the system, because I can get into the site with no problems whatsoever right now. Then again, not that it matters, but I am joined in via Gabby's site.

It also may be that the officials may be utilizing LA Wallet, their virtual ID service, as a means of using registered ID as age verification. I use that for renewing my state ID and for updating my COVID vaccination information, so that may already be filed away for verification purposes.

In any case, this dumbass law needs to be challenged and thrown out on 1st Amendment grounds. I do not need our wingnut Legislature rolling around with lists of legal law-abiding porn users selling them to blackmailers and spammers.

Just for protection, though, I do have VPN at the ready.

LA Wallet is a service where Louisiana residents can get electronic versions of their official state driver's licenses or state ID's for verification purposes. I'm guessing that that is the prime source that they will be using for age verification for enacting this law. If you are already registered with them and have a valid ID in the system, that would be good enough for them to verify your age. It's also used for verifying your vaccination records, particularly COVID.

I renewed my state ID twice through LA Wallet, and the info is on line with them, so I should be OK to go.

I'm not sure whether the law actually requires porn providers to introduce age verification, or whether it can accept verification through official sites such as LA Wallet; I will investigate that.

But, you gotta do what you gotta do to protect yourself. I do have VPN on standby just in case.

I know you can get to gabby's site, cause there is no blocking on that site yet, I'm just testing on my site before adding the others. So to confirm you can actually get to www.vickyathome,com and it doesn't redirect you to another page? If the block is working it's supposed to redirect you to www.vickyathome.com/louisiana.html

(We are not checking the LA Wallet thingy, cause we don't know how to integrate it into the site, and the rules may change, so we will wait to see what pans out before spending a ton more $$ on custom programming for all the sites... ps interesting that your phone says you are in TX?)

That's probably because the IP regional host for my AT&T mobile phone plan resides in TX.

I suppose that means that I can still access the site with my phone, right?

Stacie says that she cannot access any of the websites from her home Wi-Fi anymore. (She can on her phone though because it connects through Texas, like yours)

Are you still able to view the sites on your home wifi Anthony?

Ok...so, I'm now getting a really garbled-up members page with all kinds of broken links and pics, along with the Louisiana State Legislature webpage featuring the "porn portal" bill language.

Yeah, this is some kind of bullcrap.

Problem is, even if I turn on VPN, I still get a garbled website with broken links.

Update: I now have VPN installed and on my laptop....but now I can't even access the members page because I'm getting a 403 error for too many IP addresses entered.

My bad luck, I guess.

Vicky, remember that I had problems when you introduced the new site because I was using a VPN. I don't remember the comments now (they're here somewhere) but it seems that basically that was some sort of issue - too many IP's or something. The software seeing too many IP's or blocked IP's or something?

Yes we installed something called block script because hackers were using vpns on camroom and we couldn't block them cause they change ip every few seconds...

So we may have to loosen the restrictions..... Try to find some sort of balance between security and ease of use for the members. Thank you Louisiana for making my life harder.

Question: I don't know that much about VPN's but do they need to keep switching IP address so many times per hour? Can't they just stick to one IP?
