I hope you all enjoy
I have a number of other beautiful landscapes that i have done recently and life studies, portraits and much more besides so if you want to see more then let me know and I will look to upload some more. Happy to see other members work too, members and the girls themselves too of course.

That's really nice, Highwulf. I've never been very good at things like that. I cannot concentrate and stay focused on one thing for any length of time.

I used to watch Bob Ross. If you've never heard of him, he was a fuzzy-headed fellow from Alaska that, I think, pioneered something he called "wet on wet" or something like that. Instead of just painting the various colors, he first covered his canvas with a liquid called Gesso. He'd spread that across his canvas for a base. This allows the oil to "blend" the colors for smooth transitions. I ended up painting two that he had done. I recorded the program, then played it back, stopping as necessary, and recreated his paintings. They really came out pretty nice. If you stand close, you can see the mistakes. But you don't see them if you stand back, lol. They're packed away in the shed somewhere. I should pull them out.

It really is an easy method. I bought an easel, a few canvases and his oil paints. And that's as far as it ever went. I still "think about" getting back to that, but I doubt I will. Right now I'm building various models. I have several car and airplane models to get done. Right now I am working on wooden models. I think I mentioned them somewhere before. They're pretty neat. The pieces are laser-cut into slim pieces of plywood. You press them out, then press them together - no glue or nails or whatever. Many of them are mechanical, meaning, of course, they move, depending on what they are. For example, I've made a race car, and what they call a Marble Parquor. I'm building a Motorcycle "plaque" kind of thing for my son right now. I'll get that one finished today for his upcoming birthday.. The wheels and a couple pieces move, but this one is mainly a 3-D display.

These are really nice Walt. Yeah I actually learned how to paint by watching The Joy of Painting. I have his art book and even his magic gloves. I would love to see the paintings you did. I haven’t properly painted in almost a decade. The damage to my spinal cord is too severe. Almost unbearable but I have done a few watercolour paintings recently and am trying to take my unfinished paintings to art therapy and finish them. Very, very slow progress though of course.
I have lots of pieces I can upload dating back decades to just a couple of weeks ago

Would people be interested in some of my other work, chosen by me at random?

Yes of course Highwulf! Please post more! That is absolutely beautiful! As are the models Walt! You both are so talented! I could never do stuff like that!

Absolutely, Highwulf, post your work.

And, thank you, Vicky. I"ve got a couple more to work on before I get on to some plastic models.

Okay so this is my very first painting, first uploaded on July 3rd 2006. I was legitimately hesitant to do this as I had zero faith in my painting skills but my college tutor said that I had to come out of my comfort zone. This is surreal/abstract viewing of a washing line.
I’ll upload a little more either later or tomorrow so you all have reason to come back 😜

We always hear that - get out of your comfort zone. Don't be afraid to try new stuff. I mean, I ain't jumping out of a perfectly good airplane with a bedsheet strapped to my ass, but I'll ride a motorcycle like a madman down the highway.

But, I'll try building models. It would be nice if I'd try a couple more paintings. I need to work more on that idea. I think I mentioned before, I'm a Bob Ross kind of guy. I've never been into abstract, but I do like it.

Yes, give us more.

Glad you like it, I really would love to see your Bob Ross inspired painting for sure.
This is painting #4.
I did say I would choose them at random lol. Maybe tomorrow I’ll take a pic of my Bob Ross book. Hope you all like this one. I genuinely got my confidence with each painting. I also built and painted miniature models.

You'll get better with each one. That's a natural progression. I think I've mentioned before that my problem is dedication. I simply cannot maintain my dedication to anything. I get bored(?) after a short bit. Painting? I liked it, but I only did 2. I used to build model cars (as a kid.) But After maybe half of the job was done, I'd get maybe over anxious to get done. So I'd rush the job to get done. They'd turn out ok, but not what I would call good. A few other examples, too.

I need to learn to sit back, relax and take my time. I went from a high school grad to lead telecommunications engineer on a spacecraft project to Venus. If I could do that, I should be able to build a toy car, lol.

I'm heading to Arizona for a couple weeks today. So it'll be after I get back, but I will dig out those paintings. Right now I'm working on some wooden models and doing pretty good. I've posted some pictures of some of those somewhere, lol. I'll post some here from Arizona.

So another painting here, second ever painting. That first one I uploaded of the clothes line was a college project and then I started to paint at home, trying to get better and trying to learn to enjoy it. The landscape I uploaded yesterday in the frame was #4.
Hope you all enjoy

So here comes another piece. A very early one but I still like it. You will all hopefully soon that with each painting I became more adventurous. Hope you like it and take in to account just how early it was in my painting life.

This was my very very first attempt at a landscape outside of the above sunset

Y’know given my experience this last piece I don’t like so much but we have to look back to move forward so I figured I would put up one that I am more accepting of. I am putting up to of part of a commissioned set. Hope you all enjoy them

I like all three of those. I think I like the one in the middle the best. One good thing, Highwulf. You've motivated me to dig out the two I did. Of course, that's still two weeks down the road, lol. but I'll get it done. I've even been thinking about maybe trying a couple more. Don't know if I'll get to that, but it's an idea..

So new day equals a new image. I wonder if you all would like to see some of my other works, not simply my landscapes but other works as my college and university courses urged me to expand my talents outside of simply sketching or painting.

This was me attempting to expand. With every new ability I learned I tried to add on top of what I already knew. This was still quite an early piece. Before I did the above two waterfalls

Post anything you like. I love when others get out there and do things like this - showcase their talents. I think I bored y'all with some of my model pics. So show us what you've got.

Nonsense, your model pics were beautiful and we’d love to see more, and those paintings when you return. Do you think you have it in you to paint knew pieces or do new models or are you a little to stiff, these days. Definitely couldn’t fault you if you feel that way

Oh, I'm in good enough physical shape to do those. I'm moving slower, but still moving. You're harder to catch if you keep moving, lol. Motivation is my biggest issue. I try to work on my models maybe 4 days a week. The painting would take me longer to get into, mainly just getting properly set up.

Lol, glad to hear you’ve got the mobility left for these things. I’m only 41 and I have been unable to paint or build/paint my miniature models very easy or at all really because of the damage to my spinal cord. I’ve done some watercolour paintings in the last 6 or so months but even they were hard. Painting and building keep you young mate
