Thank you Walt. It’s sort of a return to a prior piece that I did at Christmas a couple of decades ago now. Dunno if I uploaded it here or not. This one here. Obviously I have improved a lot since then and I the Aurora from my first upload here just gave me a little confidence to branch out.
Btw the red sky one I did in less than an hour, hiding in my mother’s bedroom to keep the surprise from my cousin

I saw an article online and didn't keep the link, and I"m sorry. It involved 5 "everyday" painters (like you and I?). The lead put out one painting (landscape scene, I believe) and told them to each repaint it.
When done, he showed the 5 paintings. All were different, not only showing different perspectives, but also showing the differences in our brains and how they see things differently.

It wasn't mentioned, but it sounds to me like police witnesses. When the police interview 5 witnesses to a crime, they will get 5 different stories and descriptions. Even things like "He was wearing glasses." "No, he wasn't wearing glasses." "She had blonde hair." "She had light brown hair." Etc.Etc.

I wish I could get my storage room cleaned out so I could do some more painting.

You should. The ones you showed really were good. It’s been a while since I finished an actual painting. I mostly use oil or chalk pastels these days. They are quicker and you can have better command of them

I really like this one. Good job, even if it is one of your earlier works.

My painting started in oil, via Bob Ross. Since then, I've read that I think it was acrylics that dry much faster. I"m not sure, but, if I do get started again, I"ll at least start with oils again.

I know it’s been a while. Was still doing bits here and there.
Finished up a portrait of Shanda. I was happy with it. Now not so much. Is better when is a little distance

Looks good to me. I found a girl on line who is giving 'classes on both pencil drawings and oil portraits. I was going to follow her, did watch the pencil art show. But I just don't have the time to dedicate it. I did record the show, so I hope to watch it again and try my luck. Last picture I did of a pretty girl came out looking like a guy.

Your Shanda looks more like Shanda than my girl looks like a girl, :lmao:

Hi guys I know I have been away for a little bit. I’ve still been working on my art but not been really confident or liking any of it enough to share with anyone outside of art therapy.
Actually started working on this piece at art therapy. Finished it Friday morning just before my Emdr counselling session. I hope it was worth the wait.

Nice work. I"ve done a couple of pencil portraits following someone else. But I haven't done enough to get good out of my head.

I hear you Walt. It’s all about practice and confidence. The latter coming from the former. What I would do, still do quite a bit, is base sketches from various characters in my favourite books and things. Including audiobooks.
Dunno if that advice is helpful in any way but that’s my two cents anyway

So this I finished yesterday. It’s part of my mental well-being collection.

Nice work.

One word of criticism - at first glance, the rocky outcrop on the left looks vaguely like an elephant drinking from the lake. The painting equivalent of being photobombed?

lol Lance, yeah I see now how it may look like that. At some point I may touch up that part either turn it into a elephant head or maybe put a bit more detail into the outcropping

I vote for more detail. I don't think that painting lends itself to an elephant.
