This is a cricket post john..... when Vicky agrees to use a cricket bat as part of a camshow, I will advise..... otherwise this post is cricket all the time (until Vicky deletes it...) For some reason Vicky does not like my beloved game and all the joys of seeing all the statistics you could ever want in a sport.....

Dang, Rokker, don't hurt our little girl  . How big (or little) is a cricket bat?
Reminds me of a joke: Pregnant mom is trying to get 4 yr-old-son ready for the new family member.
Mom: Jimmy, would you like a new brother or a new sister?
Jimmy: Gee, mommy, if it wouldn't put you out of shape too much, I'd kinda like to have a pony!

Walter - I was just reading the rules to England's national game - the bat is a somewhat longer and heavier than a baseball bat, with a similiar handle, but with a wide flat blade, like a paddle.
Rokkerr - Wow, I didn't know that there were 11 players on each team. With a bowler (pitcher) who is trying to hit wickets, with stumps, and bails -- explain that to us laymen -- and the striker (batter) who is trying to prevent it. The game can take forever... sometimes 5-6 days... I would admire anyone who can watch it over that long a time as well as even the players participating in it. My heart goes out to you.

Hmmm .... cricket..... you either love it or you absolutely hate it. England in the colonial days showed the countries we were taking over how to play it. Hence, places like India, Pakistan, Australia, Jamaica, and South Africa are heavily into the game..... to the point of obsession. The bowler does not stand still. Instead he is allowed to run at full length and throw the ball as hard as he can at the batter, usually with one bounce. The batter can hit, defend, or simply let the ball go by. People started complaining about 5 day games so they now have one day games where, like in baseball, they limit the amount of pitches for each side.
The world cup of cricket should be great fun..... if you like cricket since they are one day games. If you have nothing to do one day, turn it on. As for the bat.... I promise that a cricket bat will only be used in a playful way insofar as Vicky is concerned...... instead of the melon show we will try the cricket ball show.... (sounds painful)

Thank you for the updates on the cricket matches - Are they being televised via ESPN? What times? Etc.. ... Remember when ESPN first started out they used to do Australian rules football - a cross between rugby, and soccer, so very cool ... About India and Pakistan - those two countries are also very big into field hockey as well. They televised a championship match between those countries via satelite, about 2:30 AM here in my hometown in New York, you could not believe how many Indians were lined up around the corner to get in and watch at the match at the local movie theatre, who was carrying it via satelite at that time. Amazing stuff that.

I have yet to find cricket live here in the states...... ESPN will show bowling but not cricket, dammit!!!! I know by the way that cricket is sometimes a tedious and long game but if you can show darts on TV......... Don't worry my cricket disciples, I will make sure to take pics of Vicky holding a rather large cricket bat when we get back to LA

You sure it's not gonna be your bat that Vicky will be holding
Anyway why are DARTS so popular on TV --
1. in the "01", series of games subtraction is the key as well as being able to throw a double in and double out.
2. in the cricket series of games addition is the key as well as being able to throw triples as well as double bulls.
Ah, just the thought brings back happy memories of being back in the pub...
You get there at 4 PM for the tournament that starts at 7 PM. Practice is what we called it. Continue drinking and smoking all along.
You throw your darts until the games finish about 10:30 PM - continue drinking and smoking all along.
...You win it and become the hero of the entire bar by doubling out at "2"
A celebration ensues....Hurray!!!
You continue "practicing" your throws, while still drinking and smoking, all along...Hey I'm getting good at this, you say ... until the wee hours of the morning, 1:00 AM, 2:30 AM, til 3:45 AM.
It gets so bad when leaving, that you can't find your Marlboro Red cig box, the sharp parts of the dart, - Can I remember that I came in with three darts...LOL?? - their corresponding shafts, their flights, or even the case holding them. Anyway you chuck it all up to experience.... then... now you can't find the car keys ... let alone the car...LOL!!
Just remember we're gonna do this again tomorrow night....

Ah yes, the cricket world cup! Seven weeks of willow bashing fun in the Caribbean - can't wait!!!
This year's contest looks wide open. The Aussies are going in as favourites despite a shocking form slump, England have suddenly discovered some form, South Africa, India and Pakistan are always dangerous, while New Zealand could well be the dark horses.
As for Scotland? No comment. :?
Talking of Vicky doing a shoot with a bat...you've gotta get her working that handle between her tits!
