Today (June 11th) is a very nostalgic day for Beatles Fans here Down Under
It was 50 years ago today in 1964 that the Fab 4 touched down in Sydney for their only Tour of Australia
When they came to Melbourne my late father was among the crowd at their Festival Hall concert during that tour as well

It's always so difficult when such a well known and well liked group decides to perform no more. I think you always hold out the hope that you might see them someday. Then, when you realize that it won't happen, it's a big let down. Then, when John was killed, that really sealed it. I don't think the Beatles even could have performed as The Beatles without John. That must have been really great for your father, Steve.
It was 50 years ago today, Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play.
They've been staying with us, still in style, and they're guaranteed to raise a smile.
So let me introduce to you, the act you've known for all these years,
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
A number of clips at YouTube, Steve, if you're interested. Just search "The Beatles Melbourne."

Happy Birthday,Paul. I hear you're back on tour, and that's very good news.
(Youtube, I will ALWAYS click to get rid of the stinking, obnoxious ads as soon as humanly possible. And, if I can't mute or bypass it, I turn my sound OFF! Every freakin' time!)

It's hard to think of all these guys being these ages. But I know that Mick Jagger is up there, too. 70 something and still prancing around belting out, "I Can't Get No Satisfaction." Wow!
Happy Birthday, Ringo.

Top Stuff once more Mike on this thread I'm a big Beatles fan also!! I have alot of Beatles memorabilia in my personal collection including a Limited Edition 'Let It Be' Wall Plaque (Number 126 of 1000 worldwide).
PS. I was saddened to hear this week of the death of Cilla Black who was a friend of the Beatles during & since her pop music days in the 1960's. She was also managed by Brian Epstein as well then later became a huge TV star in the U.K.

One of my earliest memories of anything beatle related must have been this song ,in 1971 in my hometown of san fernando ,LA we had a 7.1 centered in sf and we had to evacuate cuz they thought a dam was gonna break and (fam) had to head toward hills and i could remember this one -my sweet lord and janis's me and bobby magee were like only songs they played (seemed like it)
and Led Zeppelin's song Going To California was about the same earthquake the band was in hollywood hyatt (riot house) and jimmy page was in malibu
"mountains start to tremble and shake children of the sun awake" earthquake was at 6am
every time i hear georges song ,always think of that quake -was 4yrs old

Been working, Mike. I'm an election judge here, and we've been doing early voting for the last two weeks, typically 11 hour days. Today is the last day for that. Then Sunday getting ready for election day, and Tuesday is election day, probably 14 hours that day. So, once I wake up Thursday I'll be back in shape.
