General Video Fun
This video appears to be in a Nordic language. It's text only with no speaking. This guy has a Sterling (hot air) engine that he uses for churning butter. In addition to seeing the engine, we also get to see him finish the butter and use a nice old-timey (to Americans, anyway) butter dish. My father went into a new boutique (I think) "dairy shop" that had opened up recently. He described the butter-keeping dishes ha had as a kid, and the dish in this video looks a bit like what I remember him describing. He was bummed when they didn't know what he was talking about. I get the impression they didn't care much, either. Too bad for them, because if they had looked into it they might have discovered another piece of kit that they could sell for a good mark-up.
My guess is the flag wheel is a colorful way to be able to check from a distance whether the engine has stalled or not without putting something ugly up.
Sadly for me, his whole channel seems to be in his language. He looks really focused on Stirling engines, which is a current interest of mine.

I was watching a train video. I think it was from the same guy who likes to "stealth camp" in Canada. In this one, however, he came down to the States and took a very long cross-country trip on Amtrak with a friend. Then they crossed the Mississippi River, I thought of this song. This particular rendition has some very funny graphics used to illustrate the lyrics. I especially like the alligator pictures.

Its a long time since I've seen that type of butter dish. Alas, times have changed so much. Those dishes are from an era when life styles allowed the consumption of much larger quantities of butter. And also, butter put out on the table got used up much more rapidly. Can you imagine trying to get butter out that dish after it has been in a fridge for few hours.ErikB wrote: ↑April 17th, 2024, 12:59 am This video appears to be in a Nordic language. 1. I remember travelling in the 1970s and hotels would serve butter like this:
2. Isn't there already an AI app somewhere that will take video input and spit out a copy with the dialogue and captions translated?

This is one reason why I traveled to conventions. On Sunday nights after an Adultcon, we'd have a farewell dinner at The SaddleRanch restaurant up in Hollywood. Carmen used to be a VNA girl before she decided to move on. I;ve got my owh clip on Vicky's archives somewhere.

I must have been a little left of center 10 years ago. Not like now, now that I'm WAYYYY left of center. You know how to fold a shirt Sheldon Cooper style?

Keep smiling. It makes people wonder what you are up to :-)
I'm pretty sure I saw adverts for that on telly before I ever saw it being used on Big Bang.WalterB wrote: ↑November 5th, 2024, 1:57 pm I must have been a little left of center 10 years ago. Not like now, now that I'm WAYYYY left of center. You know how to fold a shirt Sheldon Cooper style?

Any of you ever see these on FaceBook? They're funny. My only gripe is that they cover the dang things with a hundred freaking 'hashtags' all over them so it's hard to see the actual clip in some cases. Personally? I think "hashtags" are useless.

A comparison of the same area of a Florida swamp during the wet and dry seasons. This guy produces interesting trail cam videos. I had to go with the url instead of newmedia because he restricts playback on other sites (bummer)

Paul Hogan had a television variety show I used to watch when I was a kid before he played Crocodile Dundee. Here are a few sketches forwarded (if necessary) to the parts that featured back-in-the-day hottie Delvene Delaney.
The only guy I don\t sympathize with in this one is the character with the moustache and feathered turban. He doesn't appreciate the fine woman he already has.
I forwarded this one to the spot where I know Delvene is. She might also be the person at the beginning of the video, but the red hair is throwing off my facial recognition.

Glad to share! I don't remember what made me want to look her up again (other than the obvious). While looking her up, I found out that her sister Cassandra was married to John Denver for 5 years.
And I agree about the forecasts. Especially if her outfit was almost see-through like it is in the second video here.
I liked her outfit in the first video the best.ErikB wrote: ↑June 12th, 2025, 6:21 pmGlad to share! I don't remember what made me want to look her up again (other than the obvious). While looking her up, I found out that her sister Cassandra was married to John Denver for 5 years.
