I hope those jerry cans in the back of the car are empty!!
Me too! Also, when they DO get filled, where will they put them? It looks like they packed more empties than can be put back in the car safely when full. Maybe the back seat(s)?

lance_s wrote: May 13th, 2021, 8:05 am No shortages that I'm aware of in Eastern Canada, but the price is high. $1.20 (cdn) a litre, which works out to about $ 3.80 US for a US gallon.
There is another pipeline, called Line 5, that is under threat from Michigan governor Whitmer. This seems to be a fairly comprehensive article with several embedded videos. The headline says 50% of Canada's fuel flows through this pipeline, although I think the article modifies that to only mean eastern Canada.

https://globalnews.ca/news/7853729/line ... da-impact/

And, as long as we are on the subject of the Great Lakes, there was a neat documentary about them which drained them using special effects. It is 45 minutes long, and the Straights of Mackinac, where the pipeline is located, are mentioned briefly at 14:45. The title is Documentary: Under The Great Lakes, in case this link is dead in the future.

No gasoline container is safe inside a vehicle. NOT ONE! In case of a collision, you are a rolling bomb.

This could be construed as Darwinism in action. Except they would probably take some unfortunate innocents with them...

Just saw a picture of a Hummer burned out along side the road. The police opened the rear lift gate and there were 5 'exploded' plastic containers. There was no word on the occupants. But the vehicle was nothing but burned metal.

The price of gas is at a 7 year high? Just in time for everyone's summer vacations and travelling… what's up with that?

Its called Economics 101 - Demand goes up, prices go up. Demand goes down, prices stay up.

To cheer you up, if I did the math right, a gallon was 6,25$ here yesterday (1,35€/l).
But will probably get more expensive as soon as the holiday season starts.

The problem was caused by that oil-line hack on the East coast. That caused problems - on the EAST COAST!

So why the hell are gas prices up to $3 in ARIZONA??? :rotffl: (Who, ME? YELL? Naaaaah!, )

Naahh, I don't start a rant. I simply never understand why the shortage of something justifies raising prices on everyone else. Running out of something does not justify raising prices. There is no increased cost, there is no increased expense. It's very simply "We ain't got much left. We'd better kick our prices up and grab as much money from folks as we can."

Prove me wrong, Lance, :lmao: (He probably will. haha.)

this whole thing relies on fear. Panic is a strong motivator for buyers and the sellers can cash in on the inflationary headlines, especially with the amount of money floating around in peoples savings accounts. Expect it to last the entire summer.

Yes, that's true. And, yes, it will probably last at least the summer, because people are getting out again, in droves. So, let's suck 'em dry while we can, lol

I'm not going to try and prove you wrong, Walt. You encapsulated the Economics 101 lesson perfectly - how much can we squeeze the suckers, and once they've got used to being squeezed, why stop.

:rotffl:

That's it in a nutshell. But I still don't understand it, lol. To me, it's legalized price gouging. I realize the purpose of business is to have/make a job where I can make enough money to support my family. But it's not the small family businesses that I get sore at. It's the large corporations who all ready have a ton of money and should, instead, be tightening their belts and adjusting their business model to cut costs instead of deciding to gouge the consumers. And, as an example, in a crisis, quit allowing idiots to fill 10 5-gallon cans in the back of their SUV. Leave a little for someone who needs to get to work to feed their family.

I don't know. Sure there are valid uses for that. What about someone who lives in the country or the forest? They have machinery they need to harvest their crops. Or whatever. So I don't know how to handle it. But, to me, a farmer is going to have the proper containers and also probably has a large tank on his property because he needs the gas every day. He has no need to zip the ole SUV into town and turn it onto a rolling firebomb.

For how much fuel?

I will convert liters to gallons if I have to (and probably post the conversion if you don't), but I WON'T spell it 'litres'!

57.8 litRES
15.29 US gallons (3.78 litRES/gal)
12.74 imperial gallons (4.53 litres/gal)

That was for 91 octane.

That equals $65 U.S. at the current exchange rate. I just filled up for about $33 for about 11 gallons ($3/Gal.) Would have cost me ~$46 for 15.3 gal. That leaves me $19 for a nice bottle of Jack Daniels. Since you had to buy gas, Lance, I'll take an extra sip in your honor. :lmao:

A sip? What the heck, man - take a swig, at least.

Just don't drink and drive....

Thanks for the conversion values. Now I don't have to look them up!

58 litERS of 91 octane?! Mind if I ask what you are driving?

And, for that matter, Vicky, what do you put in your corvette? Do you use your corvette as a daily driver, or just for fun?

Around $6 (canadian) a gallon here
