WalterB wrote: April 24th, 2022, 10:03 pm K-Pop is Korean pop music, isn't it? She is good. I never could handle those things that require a 'disjointed' brain, lol, meaning following one track on the skins and another on the bass drum and another on the cymbals. Or playing a piano. We had a female drummer in the high school band. She was pretty good, too,, what little I heard once. She was a good-looking blonde, too.

Since I like pretty much everything Elvis, I homed in on this girl. I like her.

Yes K-Pop is Korean pop... she was in a band called Bebop that from what I can see did a wide array over covers - mostly the Beatles. But yeah that video popped up and I've watched most of the videos on her channel now. Mostly hard rock and metal, and all very impressive!

I am going to have to look at that channel now after the Elvis cover, but it looks like she hasn't posted anything for several years now.

I loved playing my trumpet, marching in half-time shows and parades. We even had a concert format. Each year there was a Marching Band competition and a concert competition. Our band usually did quite well. I remember for the annual rodeo parade, I wanted to look like Josh Randall (Steve McQueen in "Wanted: Dead or Alive.") For cowboy boots, you can get either a walking heel, like a shoe heel, or a riding heel, which is a smaller heel, typically maybe 3" high and coming down to a smaller 'footprint' area. This is so that the rider can grip his stirrups more easily.

Josh Randall curled the edges of his hat up in a curl. So I wanted to wear riding boots and wear a Josh Randall hat, And march step in a parade while playing a trumpet, :lmao:

Following his passing on Sunday, the full song of which part was the theme tune for classic British tv show Minder has been played quite a bit of late! RIP Dennis Waterman.

Because of the Pandemic ... I've been watching more concerts on youtube.

The board has changed since I was last here in 2016. How do you post and embed youtube videos?

Something like this isn't working.

At the bottom of the thread is a "Full Editor and Preview" button. Hitting that, or the "quote" button at the upper right of each post, will bring you to the full editor. There are a row of option buttons above the entry box for your text. All the way to the right is a button labeled "newmedia". Click that and a tag will be inserted into the text entry area, with the insert cursor inside the tag. Now you can just paste your YouTube link right there and it should show up as a YouTube playable video. You can use the "Preview" button located a little bit down the page under the text box to see what your post will look like before you submit it.

Welcome back!

Hello Eric,

Thank you for your support.

I followed your instructions. However, I'm still having an issue with this.

I wanted to share this here - it's okay if you don't want to watch it/listen to it because I appreciate its a LONG video and not just a piece of music as we share here but I found it a fascinating watch as a Tori Amos fan, the fact I saw here live a couple of months ago and that it is the 30th anniversary of the album this year. But really interesting listening to an expert go through some of the tracks and appraising it for it's technicality rather than me being hit by it emotionally. Super cool.

Rick Beato! I don't remember which of his videos was first recommended to me, but I found it interesting enough to add him to my list of daily visits. It has been a short while since I found something interesting enough to watch the whole video, but I still check. Also, he was raised in Rochester, New York, just like me. I don't know if he has ever mentioned The House Of Guitars (645 Titus Avenue!), since I only found him in maybe the last year or so. Despite growing up there, I haven't ever visited the HOG. Probably because I didn't learn to drive until just before moving out of state. In high school, a fellow geek and I would go over the latest crazy commercial they had on television. If I ever make it back to that area, I will have to make a pilgrimage.

I now have a happy smile plastered on my face after about an hour's trip down memory lane. Their style hasn't changed much over the years:

The House Of Guitars has had a large number of well-known bands visit their shop, sign memorabilia, and sign their walls. Even Butch Patrick (Eddie Munster) and Stan Lee visited. Also, I didn't remember that David Bowie got arrested in Rochester.

I know none of this had anything to do with Rick's opinions on Tori Amos' album, but I couldn't resist. Thanks for the memory trigger, StevieP!

Not at all, ErikB - I am glad my post took you down that avenue and sparked off some memories for you! I was in no way familiar with him at all until that video on Tori came up on my feed but now I'm subscribed to his channel and watched a few of his other videos... but I am yet to check out his own music so that should be what I do next!

It's funny that the day I posted about not watching one of Rick's videos in a short while he comes out with this interesting video on Elton John's Tiny Dancer:

I am still not much into music theory, but that song is great enough that I can listen to Rick take it apart just to listen to bits of it over and over.

While driving home one day, I heard a song that sounded familiar but I couldn't quite place it. I really liked the creative vocals and special effects, and I tried to find it on YouTube when I got home based on the lyrics I remembered. I had keyed in on the wrong words, however, so it took me a little bit. At first I was sure that the style was either Edie Brickell or Alanis Morisette. It turned out to be an artist I am not all that familiar with: Natasha Bedingfield (Bweh heh heh, Netesha! Ve have Moose and Squirrel in our evil clutches at last!).

The strange thing for this song, however, is that there are two main videos. One is labeled "Official Version" and the other is labeled "US Version".

The US version seems to be upbeat and happy visually, and that meshes with the lyrics and the tempo of the song. I like stop-motion animation, however, so I have a slight preference for the Official version,. I do not understand some parts of that version, however. My take is that the diary destroys parts of itself to keep warm by the fire, and ultimately fails in its quest. That doesn't seem to be a very happy situation given the lyrics and tempo of the song. It is a visually more interesting video for me, however, despite what seems to be an unhappy ending.

Natasha Bedingfield I think gets more airplay in the US these days than she does here in her native UK... beyond her first album in the mid 2000's she really dropped off the radar here. In 2005 she did appear as a Bond girl in the video game adaptation/reimagining of From Russia With Love (alongside Sean Connery).

But seeing those two different versions has reminded me of this track by Republica, classic alternative British band I really enjoyed back in the day. There are two videos on YouTube I'll put here but my copy of the album lists these as Ready To Go and then Ready To Go (US Version) as a bonus track.

Thought this was cute. Something reminded me of this song and I wanted to DL it. Then I found this clip. It's basically clips from a number of TV shows. How many do you recognise? I see Columbo, Alyssa Milano, Al and Peggy Bundy, Jack Tripper of Three's Company, Capt. Kirk along with Bones and Scotty, Cesar Romero, Mr. Roper (Three's Company), plus a rather nice bevy of beauties. I gotta find out if VIcky will do us a veil dance. Maybe to this song.

The U.S. version is certainly less seizure-inducing. The first version is too spastic for me. The music is nice, though.

I used to love watching this video! Thanks for bringing it back up. I think you were able to name one more than I was (Alyssa Milano). Although, I would have guessed Patrick Swayze at 0:45. I don't remember the blonde's character name who replaced Suzanne Summers on Three's Company. And the other guy I think was a friend from another apartment.
