I remember that Sweet did something called "Ballroom Blitz." But I think that's all I ever heard from them.
I knew that ac/dc was a euphemism for 'swinging both ways.' But, today's world of having a different name for every little difference has just overwhelmed me, and I don't really pay attention. I'm not really interested in everyone's sexual orientation, and really don't understand the obsession with all that. What you do behind your bedroom door is really none of my business. And what I do behind my door I don't feel is anyone else's business. But, then I don't have an obsession to post every little detail of my life on line either. Even in my tame Facebook page. There's one acquaintance there that, every morning and every night, takes a picture of the sunrise/set and posts those with captions like "a view of tonight's siunset," or some such. It doesn't bother me, I just don't understand the need to do that.

Yep that was Carmen Electra in Joan Jett's A,C.D.C video .
I like Ballroom Blitz by Sweet but the first song I think I heard of theirs was Love is like Oxygen. Their song Fox on the Run got a lot of play again after being on the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 soundtrack.
Tia Carrera did a good cover of Ballroom Blitz in Wayne's World. That movie also put Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody back on the charts 17 years after it first released.

This is the original. Chuck is one of the great pioneers of early Rock. Yes, Chuck is lip syncing. And the dancing is how we used to do it. This isn't movie choreographed dancing. This is just kids doing what came naturally. And yes, I would be out there with the rest of them. I saw Chuck live out in California once. Got drunk as hell. Not sure how I made it home, lol. Chuck left us in 2017, a bad, bad loss for the kids of the '60's and a terrible loss for Rock and Roll. As the article says, "Long live Johnny B Goode." Us young rock and rollers from the '50's will miss him forever.

This is a modern day version. George Thorogood (George Thorolygood) is one of the greatest hard core Rock and Rollers around. His guitar playing is pretty fantastic. I mean, he just blows my mind. I swear, if this isn't the best hardcore Rock and Roll around, then there IS no Rock and Roll. It's 10 minutes long, so be prepared to hang on tight and fasten your seat belt. Too fast to dance to, but damn sure makes my blood boil over, lol

Roy Orbison was a fantastic singer from the early '60's. Roy Orbison's voice is simply astounding. He could cover several octaves, at least 3. His music covered several subjects from love to sorrow to just plain fun. He was married twice, first to Claudette Frady in 1957. His song "Claudette" was about her. Claudette was killed in 1966 on her motorcycle (they both rode) when a pick-up pulled out in front of her. Roy was, of course devastated. In 1969 he married Barbara Jakobs, a relationship that lasted to his death from a heart attack in December 1988 at the age of 52, as he was making his comeback..
After the '60's his career declined, but was later revived. In 1987 he appeared in concert with Jeff Burton (Elvis' guitarist,) and Bruce Springsteen, along with several other well known musicians and back-up singers. The concert was recorded as "Roy Orbison: A Black and White Night" (The video was recorded in black and white.) Early in 1988 he joined a group of great musicians and did several songs and videos as "The Traveling Wilburys." The group included Jeff Lynne of ELO, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and George Harrison,
This song is one of my favorites. Someone once said about Roy, "I don't know where he goes, but when he hits those high notes, he is in a whole other world."

I guess I am in a New Wave mood tonight. The first two are great songs, even if the videos are a little bizarre/disturbing.
Eurythmics: Love Is A Stranger
What a difference a hairstyle can make.
Missing Persons: Destination Unknown
Tubeway Army (Gary Newman, vocalist): Are Friends Electric
Devo: Red Eye Express
There is an effect in here that always makes me think of a dodgeball.

I may have put these up before. Here, I'm posting two. They both are set to NASCAR. Man, I can't wait for the Daytona 500. Feb 20th. I mean, if I'm scheduled to die that day, I'm gonna grab the Old Guy and plead "Look, man, take me tomorrow. ANYTHING but today!!! I GOTTA be here for this one.! Lemme get this one, and I'll come see you tomorrow, I promise."
First, Tom Petty with the original, then ZZ Ward. I first saw ZZ in a show at Skyville with Billy Gibbons on Skyville live doing "Sharp Dressed Man" with Orianthi and a few others.
.
.
Then ZZ Ward. This one is a shortened version of the song, but you might see your favorite driver. Richard Petty, Dale Jr., Denny Hamlin (I don't care for him, lol but I guess he's a good driver.)
,
.
Decided to include one more. This is Sheryl Crow. If you're a NASCAR fan, you'll recognise someone. This is a tribute(?) to "Bullitt," one of Steve McQueen's best movies. I thought they did a pretty good job. And it looks like Sheryl is doing her own driving, both in the car (a '68 green fastback Mustang (where have we seen that before?)) and on the motorcycle. And they even include that dang little green Volkswagen. I swear, that dang little car is EVERYwhere, lol. Steve was a great motorcyclist, as well. He even played one of the German soldiers in the motorcycle chase in "The Great Escape." So, in effect, he was chasing himself, lol. He did everything but the jump, as the insurance company wouldn't let him. But I have no doubt he could have done it.

The first two are Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down a Dream'. There IS a song called NASCAR Man by Junior. It sounds a little too much like a 90's sitcom theme song for my tastes.WalterB wrote: ↑January 30th, 2022, 1:55 pm I may have put these up before. Here, I'm posting two. They both are set to NASCAR. I ran across another clip, this one with Paul McCartney and Ringo at Staples Center in L.A. in 2014. It's 1/2 hour segment, and you will also see Yoko Ono, Tom Hanks and Anna Kendrick in the audience. The Kicker? There is someone in the band that you know. Here are 3 pictures. (Click them to see larger.)
. .
Of course, it's not Rokkerr. But it's sure his doppleganger. Here's the clip. "Rokkerr" is best seen in "Matchbox" starting at 20:55, then even better in the next song, "Boys," starting at 23:15.
And, don't forget to sing along. I know you will, lol.

I have a page on another book site called Uncle Dave's Musical Adventure Assault where I post songs I like or came across while going down the music rabbit hole. It is very easy to locate as it's public I love music. Having grown up in the 70s and 80s I love rock, metal and especially hair metal. I listen to all kinds of music and love the blues alot. Amazon music is a great music app I use. It has a My Soundtrack list and it has songs based in what you play. I have a kick ass soundtrack.
This song has a kick ass drum track and some great lyrics.
I don't know how to put in the preview image

Nice tune, except for the part about killing someone. 1) Either quote someone or press the "Full Editor & Preview" button at the bottom of the topic page.
2) There is a button all the way to the right of the controls just above the edit box called "newmedia".
3) Pressing the button will insert the correct tags into the message, with the insert point between the beginning and end tags.
4) Paste the URL of a YouTube video there. I haven't been able to get it to work with anything else, like Rumble or Odysee. But I haven't tried very hard.

And, the title of your song, "Going Down", made me think of another song with those words in the title. Bonus: it features a very Spock-like Leonard Nimoy. And check out the solid clunk of a REAL on/off knob on the car radio!

I heard this when in the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner this week and it's been rolling around in my head quite a bit since. They actually played it twice for some reason, quite close together! But I had not heard of the song nor the band before that evening!

This came up on in my recommendations on YouTube the other day and I've since been through all these cover videos on the channel. Her name is A-YEON and she's a Korean drummer formally of a K-Pop group and just seems to mostly post these rock/metal cover videos with her drumming. Pretty awesome I think.

K-Pop is Korean pop music, isn't it? She is good. I never could handle those things that require a 'disjointed' brain, lol, meaning following one track on the skins and another on the bass drum and another on the cymbals. Or playing a piano. We had a female drummer in the high school band. She was pretty good, too,, what little I heard once. She was a good-looking blonde, too.
Since I like pretty much everything Elvis, I homed in on this girl. I like her.

Well, Erik learned TheOldGuy's secret. If you say "Elvis," Walt's gotta listen to it, lol.
That's a good clip, Erik. I never heard that song until 2 - 3 years ago. There is a clip with a couple female dancers who remind me of Gabby Quinteros (don't even know if she likes Elvis, lol.)
Most of these clips I'm not crazy about. A lot of them are just random clips that someone throws together, trying to make it look like they're dancing to the song. But I first learned music in my school band, (6th grade) then later in my high school band (trumpet.) So the beat of the music is important to me. I can generally spot it when the dancers are dancing to some other song. The timing of their steps usually quickly goes out of sync with the song. So they quick switch to another clip to hide the "out of step."
But this one was a good one.

I also started with trumpet in grade school and continued it into high school. Until 11th grade, if I remember correctly. Although I don't remember if 11th was included or if it was the first year I quit.
