Well, this doesn't fit the Netflix/Amazon genre, but I'm gonna butt in anyway. ?

There's a movie named "Red Dawn." Well, there's two of them now. I'm talking about the original from 1984, with Patrick Swayze, Lea Thompson and a bunch of others. One of Charlie Sheen's early doings.

Anyway, not the 2012 version. Yes, I've seen it, and didn't like it. But I've always wondered if it wasn't just because I saw the early version first. Does someone feel the same in reverse if they saw the later version first.

But, given what's going on in Ukraine, I can't help but wonder. IS it possible? Anyway, if you like kind of "What if's" with a war story regarding stand up teens, you might like this.

Finished Killing Eve on Hulu, Overall I very much enjoyed it. Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh were both excellent. I do recommend it.

Season 3 of The Orville had been outstanding as well. All 3 seasons are available on Hulu. One of my favorite Sci fi shows

I dont know if I would call these the best shows on netflix, but definitely the raunchiest and funny.

Big Mouth is an animated show about middle school kids going thru puberty and having to deal with hormone monsters.

Human Resources is a spinoff of Big Mouth. Best description I heard is Big Mouth meets the office.

Saw Red Dawn back in the day, but it wasn't my type of movie.

As for if an invasion of the US could happen, I'm going to guess basically no. We are incredibly isolated in North America and our military budget is more than the rest of the top ten highest spending countries combined. China spends the second most on military in the world we spend more than three times as much as they do. Countries we would likely end up opposing would be much more likely to start things by invading their neighbors so if we become involved in a ground war, it is more likely to happen elsewhere, in my opinion.

Of course, Davest. But what if you lived in one of those places. As I mentioned, Ukraine. And, regarding current issues, Taiwan and China. I don't know if China would invade Taiwan, but I hate to think what would happen if they did.

About 3 quarters of the way thru The Sandman on Netflix. The original comics came out over 30 years ago and have been used in college literature courses and have been the subject of numerous thesis papers. They truly are more of a work of literature than just a comic book. The show is very good. I dont think it could have really been done right before streaming services became a thing.

Never got into the comics. I was more into the superhero ones. But, I always thought the artwork of The Sandman was beautiful. This is in my que to watch.

The Gray Man was enjoyable

The Gray Man was okay, finally got around to watching it last weekend... but I also watched Prey the same day and really enjoyed that!

Just finished watching the first season of Star Trek Strange New Worlds on Paramount Plus and it's really reinvigorated my Star Trek fandom after finding Star Trek Discovery really lacklustre.

Same here - apart from that one episode where it was a bit like those old "holodeck gone wrong" episodes from Next Generation where they were all playing characters from a children's book... bit otherwise very solid and I am looking forward to more. Have to confess it actually had me returning to Discovery - that first season just wasn't Star Trek to me, and I stopped watching, but it seems season two (under different hands) is better, while still not great.

That one was a groan.

The season of Discovery that Pikec was in was awesome. I need to get back to Discovery.

Picard is also excellent.

I also have been watching Gotham again on Netflix. A really great show as well.

I gotta say watching a few different series in norwegian on prime and netflix with English subtitles has helped me more than I thought it would! We were in Norway in 2016 and I really struggled with my Norwegian, it's so much better now and that's the only difference. Just hearing it on tv and translating it in my head with the help of the subtitles brought back so much! I'm thrilled! People I'm meeting now are impressed and Rokkerr is shocked at my blabbing on....

That's very cool, Vicky. When I went to Spain in the '70's, I had been out of high school for 13 years, speaking no Spanish. Also, it took me 4 years to get through a 2-year class, lol. But, I dove in when I got there and surprised myself. In talking to folks and reading newspapers, my memories returned pretty quickly.

In my super comic book nerd voice....

"Sandman is actually a DC property under their Vertigo line. A totally separate company from Marvel. Sheesh" (insert eye roll emoji here) lol

I am recommending this once again because it is apparently leaving Netflix at the end of September. Watched it again and it still enthralled me.
Davest wrote: November 17th, 2020, 8:32 pm On Netflix there is a 90-minute documentary, executive produced by Dan Rather, called Human Nature. It does a great job explaining the current state of human genome editing and the ethical considerations involved. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I really enjoyed it.

I've started watching The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Amazon and am really liking it. It takes place thousands of years before the Lord of the Rings so its exploring a period of time that unless you read all the other Tolkien books you wouldnt be familiar with. Cinematically its one of the most beautiful looking shows on air. Its the most expensive TV series made and I can see why. If you like the Lord of the Rings movies or just this type of fantasy in general I highly recommend it.

Disney plus has released Werewolf by Night. This is one of the lesser known Marvel comics. Appropriate for the Halloween season and if you are a fan of the old Universal monster movies I highly recommend it. You can tell that the people who made this absolutely love those old movies. And to tie this to another thread in the forum, the name of the man who is the werewolf is Jack Russell lol. The big terrifying werewolf is named after a tiny dog. Thats probably what every terrier dreams of being LOL
